Being a "loyal, faithful customer" does not mead a thing to corporate businesses. Most likely they get hundreds of complaints a day. If you want service that treats you right you need to stick to local businesses. There are a few late night joints where you can get some grub. They include: Joe Mommas, Phat Phillys (sadly going out of business soon so get them while you can), Mary Jane's Pizza, McNellies, The Hunt Club, Twin Peaks, Kilkenny's, Dave & Busters, White Owl, BruHouse, SoCos, Crow Creek Tavern, Gray Snail, Full Moon Cafe, The Brook, Louies, Magoos, The Dog House and many more. Keep your money in Tulsa!

Can you all find a less marxist columnist than Rall? Get this guy off of your columns, you'd be surprised how many people read this dribble and fall into it lock step. I would hope you would be more interested in providing more analytical columns that actually delve into the real issues as opposed to this fool who constantly spews "neo-Communist" filth.

   Letter to the Editor:

One of Tulsa's City Councilors has decided he hasn't screwed up our city enough, now he is trying to spread his incompetence and his belligerent attitude to our judiciary. Enough is enough. Afraid to run on his record as a failed member of our paralyzed city council, John Eagleton is posting billboards that mislead the public into thinking he is already a district judge. Eagleton is not now and has never been a judge. Eagleton's lie is indicative of his blatant disrespect for the people of Tulsa and Pawnee counties. By trying to hide his own record and rewrite his own history, he has made a mockery of the legal profession and our democratic process. This sort of behavior deserves more than just a slap on the wrist. I challenge Councilor Eagleton to issue a public apology. Misleading the public in an election is a disgrace. Eagleton should be ashamed.
I for one will be voting for the proven choice, District Judge Linda Morrissey (yes, she actually is a judge) on Nov 2.

    Sincerely,
    Lori Fisher

Iron Man I as it turned out was superb ! New ideas and quite creative in it's overall gestures of scientific breakthru's in technological advancements. Loved it.
However, Iron Man II started out great, but in the end was way way over done in just too much "Stuff" going on.
Hope they have an Iron Man III tho, perhaps they'll find some way to blend exciting, entertaining, thrills, awesome technology and yet a credible overture of Iron Man does it again...!

Re: Are You Pissed Off? Tell us about it.

   Dear Editor:

Ah, I see in the Dec. 30th letters column that my friend J. Ray Hunt is at it again. Before he contended that everyone registered Republican is a spawn of the devil incapable of doing good, and now I see he's arguing that all liberals are angels of God incapable of doing harm. Interesting theory.

Mr. Hunt says that liberals '...make no laws that represents [sic] the rights of the poor', do '...not elevate the power of the rich over the poor', and ensure that 'no parties or corporations shall have any power over our people.' Yet we now have an inheritance tax that classifies struggling family farmers as rich. This almost guarantees that when there's a death in the farmer's family, part of the land will have to be sold to Monsanto. Yet it is now a federal offense to bake a cake in your non-stainless steel kitchen and sell it to a friend. The federal government might let you decorate a Sarah Lee cake for him or her--maybe. Yet we are now required to buy health insurance from private corporations. Insurance which, oddly enough, became less affordable the moment it became mandatory.

He further claims that liberals '...provide for the welfare of children, old, disabled and unemployed.' Federal meddling in state child welfare programs, however, has a miserable track record of taking children from loving parents and leaving children in abuse, or putting them in worse abuse than they had to endure before. Many people did a better job of providing for their own old age before the Social Security Pyramid Scheme began taking a huge chunk from their paychecks. And unemployed people (whether disabled or not) are often discouraged from working even when they can. Did you know that taking a temporary job that lasts two months, or going to school, will end your unemployment benefits? Give a man a fish, don't teach him to fish. Otherwise, he might gain some self-respect.

So, liberals are keen to see that 'all jobs shall be kept here for American workers', '...workers must be given liveable and honorable wages', and that 'no Americans shall be denied healthcare when they are sick.' Thus it is that liberals remain in bed with their allies the labor unions and help them lower the productivity of American workers--and if you don't think labor unions ever do that, you are a babe in the woods. Thus it is that liberals demand that the borders be porous but keep citizenship dear. This, of course, creates a permenant underclass to take 'the jobs Americans don't want' (because they pay less than minimum wage and illegally offer no benefits whatsoever). And thus it is that the liberals create massive beasts like Medicare, then punish doctors for charging less to cash customers who don't require ten reams of paperwork per visit.

So, 'all workers must be given respect and justice' and 'no Americans shall be denied legal rights when accused.' This about the people who passed so many federal statutes that no professional lawyer can claim to be expert in more than a fraction of them, yet still maintain that ignorance of the law is no excuse. This about the people who throw workers in jail for signing contracts with other companies when those other companies do something illegal (despite the fact that corporate trade secrets are better protected these days than individual privacy). This about the people who turn a blind eye when states convert fines into 'fees' and thus deny the accused their day in court.

Isaiah 32:7 says, 'The scoundrel's methods are wicked, he makes up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just.' The liberal keeps us working eighty hours a week just to pay our federal taxes. This, of course, leaves us no extra time, energy or resources to use in giving our neighbors a 'hand up'. But, self-styled heroes that they are, they're always ready with a government handout--provided, of course, there's something left over after the graft and corruption is properly financed. And while liberals are happy to look after our souls via James 1:27 and Matthew 25:31-46, I don't see anything there that suggests Robin Hood saved the souls of the rich by forcing them (at the point of a sword) to give to whomever Robin of Loxley considered poor and deserving.

As for the Constitution, Mr. Hunt, I frankly don't know why you would go there. The Founding Fathers knew that a federal nanny state would be less than half a step away from tyranny, and the proof is in the Tenth Amendment. And the proof that they were right is all around us. The working poor have a piece of their meager wages pulled, then must renounce their privacy to a nosy government in order to beg for food stamps to replace dollars they had actually already earned. This is your dignity and justice?

So, the bus overheated, here we are by the side of the highway, and we have figured out by dead reckoning that we are on the road to Hell on Earth. And you, Mr. Hunt, don't want us to take another road because this one is so beautifully paved with good intentions. God loves you, sir, and so do I, but please spare me. Fifty years of federal liberal experimentation has brought us more workers in poverty, more homelessness, less liberty for most and less privacy for all. So, if you were thinking of making a resolution for the new year, may I suggest you be more careful what you wish for? We don't mean to complain, but we just keep getting it in the end.

I am the grandmother of a child that told me of some emotional abuse that was happening in her home. I went to my daughter and she knew of the issues, I then told her she is a failure to protect. She had the child when she was 15 so you know who was the provider for both. She married another man that apparently doesnt care to much for the child they have their own son now. I took my granddaughter into my home for safety. My daughter tricked my granddaughter and myself with a "trip" that my granddaughter was going to visit some other relatives. We let her go. Ten days later I get a text messege that I don't have to worry about my granddaughter anymore she is moving in with a dad she had only seen 5 times since she was born 9 years ago. I went and got an emergency order to get her back, and we got her. 45 days later the family court judge gave her back to her mother that was with the knowledge of abuse. I have not seen my granddaughter in almost a year now. Does anyone ever wonder how kids come up missing and dead and why nobody does anything to help? Because the school and the court knew and did nothing. Isnt it a law that if you even suspect abuse you turn it in. NO ONE DID ANYTHING. And gave her back. Hmmmmmmmmm.

The Giffords shooting sickens people like me as much as it does you. But because of it, many of you support the passage of new laws which, after you send men and boys off to fight, and possibly get killed or maimed in defense of our way of life, will strip them of liberties under the Bill of Rights for coming back damaged.

I know because I belong to a minority that is so widely feared and loathed that every time there is a dramatic and tragic shooting, at a post office, a school, or a public meeting with Arizona Rep. Giffords, the call goes out to further deny us the Bill of Rights. Never mind that it's the same kind of bigotry that would judge all black men by the example of Willy Horton. This bigotry is politically correct, especially for liberals.

I speak of those of us who have serious mental illness. Many of you fear and loath us so much, you would and have given Doctors the unaccountable power to veto the Bill of Rights for us under the color of Medicine. Using the rather unscientific criterion, "Are you thinking of hurting yourself or anyone else". Which can be used even if we think only of defending ourselves against the kind of violence that has created and/or exacerbated our illness.

This criterion is unscientific and unconstitutionally broad because it applies to the wide majority of those with mental illness who may be as angry and upset at something as many of the rest of you, but have no history of or real propensity or intention for violence. Anyone with access to the Internet can find the scientifically valid medical criterion in the National Library of Medicine database for journal articles, www.PubMed.gov. Searching on the terms "serious mental illness" or SMI, "crime" and "violence" will show that only the tiny minority of those who are mentally ill, and don't have or take needed medications, and are involved in alcohol or illegal drugs, have any propensity or intention for violence. It will also show that the rest of us, who you tar with the same brush, are more likely than the rest of you to be victims of crime and violence.

So, after you send someone off to war, they are subject to the same realities if they go and/or come back with a mental illness, like depression or PTSD. They will be more likely to commit violence if they don't get treatment and get involved with illegal drugs or alcohol. They will be more vulnerable to crime and violence than those who sent them. After sending them off to fight, get wounded and die, you would strip them of the right to defend themselves against criminal attack when they come back a part of minority that you fear and loath. And exemptions from this fear and loathing on the basis of military service would only short those who have been abused as children and/or raped, maimed in car wrecks or plane crashes or terrorist attacks, or have endured such threats of death as cancer.

It would seem that after making racial hatred unacceptable and letting gays mostly out of the closet, even vampires, many of you still need someone to hate who can't easily fight back. Denied employment in most places and often living on disability, most of us can't afford lawyers. Lawyers aren't willing because they either can't get paid or don't believe they can win against fear and loathing or share the bigotry.

Why don't you go pick on somebody your own size?

Dear Editor, I really want to know. Why is shovelling the side walk a big no no but plowing the parking lots and streets ok. I have heard two theories so far. One is it is just going to melt the next day. I think the weather has proved people wrong two years in a row now. The second one is snow is an act of God and if you shovel it and someone trips and falls they can sue you. Are streets, driveways and business's parking lots exempt. Please someone tell me the real reason because I come from two different states that if you did not shovel your side walks you could get a fine. My last question is why is it better for me to walk out in the street two miles and take my chances a car will not hit me than to shovel the side walk and to keep me safe. I tried to take the city bus into day and I know that I was on a snow route so I walked to where I could pick up a bus and there was no bus in sight. I understand from another person that there was just one bus on each route so I decide instead of waiting to complete the walk. I wore enough clothes and ice walkers that it was no big deal and I thank that man at the bus stop for giving me the information I needed so I could decide how long I wanted to wait or if I wanted to continue my journey. I also thank the two cars who stopped and asked me if I wanted a ride but I had not been out of my house for two days that I was really enjoying the sun and the walk. But please someone who really know the answer please post it. Just wondering.

It’s tough that the Tulsa Police Department can’t get enough budget and manpower. But they avoid paperwork and investigation like a vampire avoids garlic and it’s hurting the rest of us. I also suspect that it’s coming back on them and affecting their murder clearance rate, because people don’t trust them to look out after the small guy if the small guy steps up to help. Or asks for help.

Say you get hit by some unlicensed, uninsured, hit and run bum. Of course you can’t get all the needed information right away. The bum hit and ran. But will the TPD help? They have a dozen excuses why not. They didn’t see it. There weren’t any witnesses. The bum and vehicle aren’t there. The city attorneys won’t prosecute. It’s not policy to investigate such minor occurrences. Or maybe it happened on private property. Even if you collect evidence, identify the vehicle and owner or driver, find a witness that heard the bum bragging that he hit someone, and find out that the bum doesn’t even have a license or insurance like you do, still no help from the TPD. And because you can’t afford the deductible on your insurance and the bum doesn’t have any, the bum gets off free and clear to do his damage over and over again. Until someone gets hurt and possibly the State Police investigate.

Say someone breaks into your home, steals just a few things and commits malicious mischief to confuse things. It works on the TPD. The responding Officer will likely find some way to blame you for the results and claim that it doesn’t look like a crime just to avoid filling out a report. Even if you call an Officer back when you get more information that shows a break-in and a likely suspect, still no help. Maybe a budding juvenile criminal gets the idea that he’s immune. Maybe he is. Nor can you get any help if you feel that your neighbors or yourself are threatened and mistreated. TPD will not investigate until there is a dead body.

Or say someone makes a false complaint about you. If the liar has more social, political or business clout than you do, you can get arrested and incarcerated without any investigation. The TPD do not feel obliged to interview your coworkers, neighbors and/or friends and determine any other circumstances besides those presented to them by the liar.

This accumulates such a feeling of contempt and distrust towards the TPD that many have given up on them. Why cooperate with the SOB that yesterday wouldn’t address your complaint, or enforced a false complaint against you? Then when the TPD does get a dead body that they feel is worth their time to investigate, they just can’t understand the “don’t snitch mentality”.

Maybe it’s not about snitching. Maybe it’s about not being able or allowed by the TPD itself to trust a law enforcement agency that doesn’t think you are worth its time to protect and serve. Maybe that’s why the murder rate is so high.

Over at the Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health, TCBH, they have State-licensed treatment Counselors. Let’s call one of them Trudy Sting, not her real name. She has one answer for everything – no matter what bad things in your life have and continue to upset you, you just have to realize and accept that You are the common denominator, and take responsibility for Your actions.

You got raped and continue to be upset whenever you hear comments that sound like the rapist? You are the common denominator. You got abused as a child and still cringe whenever you hear that tone of voice? You are the common denominator. You got assaulted and death threats and still have nightmares? You are the common denominator. You got maimed by a drinking driver and are still angry about it and the physical disabilities it caused? You are the common denominator. You poisoned by some industrial chemical, causing neurological and neuro-muscular damage and irritability? You are the common denominator. You had cancer surgery, got ready to die, and didn’t get over the depression? You are the common denominator. Your dysfunctional family had you put in TCBH because your failure to dysfunction right along with them was embarrassing? You are the common denominator.

At TCBH, this and the AA 12-step program are the only answers they need for all forms mental illness and upset. One size fits all. Never mind if you don’t think this helps, that it causes you a great deal of pain, and the constant berating drives you to considering suicide just to get away from them. What you think does not matter because, you guessed it, You are the common denominator.

Yes Ma’am, when it comes to all the people passing through your version of caring, You are the Queen of Common Denominators. Now if you could just find your King, imagine what a perfect world it would be.

   Dear Mayor and Urban Tulsa,

I am not even going to guess if you did a good job or bad job with the storm. But when you said no one died from the storm how do you mean it? Do you mean that the snow did not crush anyone one. Do you mean people stayed home and did not starve? What about that poor woman who got hit in the street on 41st street because the sidewalks were not shovelled? I heard the sirens that night. I did not know what it meant but I heard the sirens. Then to find out a Lady got hit because all she was doing was walking to work broke my heart because I could have been that lady. The buses routes had only one bus per route and you had to guess at what time you could catch it and where so instead of trying to be late to work I had to walk out in the street on Sheridan for about two miles for 3 days and pray I would not get hit, pray I would not fall and pray the cars would not slide. Than 3 other days I had to walk a mile in the Street going to where I could catch the bus to take me to work because I am on a snow route. SO WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO ONE DIED FROM THE STORM AND WHY ARE THE CITIZENS OF TULSA TOO LAZY TO SHOVEL THEIR SIDEWALKS. They kept telling me they are owned by the city and the city should do it when I asked. I am moving when my lease is up and taking my money, what little I have, with me and spend it in another state. People in Tulsa acts like it is a sin if they see someone out walking. Some of the people in the cars either make really loud noises to scare me and than speed away or they yell really bad things at me. Why? What business is yours if I am walking on a side walk when I can find one. YOU DON'T WANT PEOPLE OUT IN THE STREET THAN SHOVEL YOUR WALKS. IT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE AND NOW THAT POOR LADY IS HISTORY. NO one even said they were sorry or that it would never happen again. By now she is so history no one even remembers that someone died. SO I am asking THE CITY OF TULSA HOW DO YOU DEFINE NO ONE DIED BECAUSE OF THE STORM.

The Gas Prices and "Where's the Solutions" to make it through this..?
Recently President Obama mentioned how pursuing Electric Autos would be a great alternative to the now gas guzzeling monsters many of us now own.
Does he stop and consider how this tranlates to everyone spending even more money to buy transportation..? Not to mention...so What Do We Do with the Cars we now own and in many instances still owe on?
    Potted plant holders? Flower Pots?
In closing, of all the Congress people in Washington and all the other elected officials now in Washington, it comes across as None of Them have a clue as to what to do to help bring back down the ridiculously high gas prices..!
Do the Oil Corporations care at all as to the overall affect this is having on familys already struggling to make a go of things?
Oh...and one last teenie tid bit here....At the End of this Year...Will Exxon, Sun, Sinclair, and many more "Boast" and "Brag" at how they made a multi Billion Dollar Profit off of all of US...?
