Awesome! I'm a midtowner (13th & Delaware) but fully intend on supporting this store in any and every way I can. In fact in a month or two I should have okra coming out of my ears, would be happy to donate it!
We don't NEED parking downtown, Catsup, we need a grocery store!! You have to park a mile away to get to your [un]friendly, [way-away-from-the] neighborhood Wal-Mart anyway. There are plenty of parking lots downtown, the store just doesn't have it's OWN.
OMG, I'm so thrilled! We've been driving 10-12 miles round trip to get groceries, and with gas the way it is...well, you know.
Don't worry about "no parking." That just means no designated parking lot required by the city. It's a small store with street parking right in front of the door. For the proportion of drive-up traffic compared to walkup neighborhood shoppers, it's not going to be crowded. Come down and see for yourself!
Catsup, Did you mean to say "Businesses downtown are thriving so much that new ones are opening there nearly every week"? Because that's the reality. Businesses downtown are not failing. Go down there and take a look around sometime. You'll be amazed at how many new places there are, and how many shops that opened two years ago are still thriving.
I recently visited there and though I live in the neighborhood I don't like to go in there. It has become a Haven for Homeless Bohemians or recovering drug addicts. It seems like every freak and I don't mean that kindly flocks to the store. Hmm, I wonder why, can't be because of the Outrageous prices that are charged there. $2.50 for a coffee ? High prices for off beat food items that most people would never buy. Most the time the shelves are partially empty. There's always trash visible from the street in the back of the building and it looks like a dump. It started as a good idea but I've heard now that business has fallen and Scott is considered forming a Co-op business out of it. I was happy to see a store go in but I'm not happy with the majority of the crowd it brings. All in All, I call this BAD MANAGEMENT.
