I agree with the comment above. Felons are people, and all people are potential felons! We all have that possibility of committing a crime. If someone commits a crime, they need to do the time or whatever punishment, but after that, they should not be discriminated against, and that's exactly what it is, a "holier than thou" attitude. I bet if any person lived a 1000 years, they may committ many crimes, so were all in the same boat. Give felons due respect as humans. On a side note, if we really cared about our people today and our future generation,I believe there must be stiffer, quicker physical punishment, and the reason we don't want to apply this is because we are cowards and don't want to sacrifice.
Im a 39 year old woman, was charged unfairly with three felonies on assualt and battery on three Tulsa police women. It was back in 1994, I was twenty-one years old. I was moving my brothers and my personal items out of our home because I caught his wife cheating with another man,our cousin. Our next door neighbor had the nerve to call the police saying I was burglarizing the place. The two police women arrived I stopped and answered their questions of what I was doing, than one of the police women said "No what are you really doing", and she was in my face at the time. So having already answered her question, she was insinuating that I wasn't telling the truth. And of course I became defensive saying "I already fucking told you" and that set her and the rookie police woman off, than the third police woman came up and they flung me against a parked van several times plus pepper sprayed my face. Next, I was slammed down to the ground, than a male police officer came up and said "Bitch if it was night time it would've been worse", which he was threatning me. I didn't ever lay a hand on any of those police women. The only thing I did was answer the police of what I was doing there and than I mouthed off because of the police womans insuating that I was lying. And I get charged with three felonies, than my lawyer had me sign a waiver saying that I was drunk at the time which dropped two felonies to two misdemeanors but still have that one felony. I can't get a career. I've been going to college it almost time for graduation but whats the point if I can't even get hired on at a Dollar General store. Wish I would've fought the case instead of signing the waiver which my lawyer had me sign. I was threatened, assualted, and battered by the Tulsa Police Department.
im 32 yrs old. i waz convicted of a felony when i waz 18 yrs old. i admit i made sum other mistakes since then but no felonies. i cant get an expungment, a job or anything!!! tha law iz so messed up!!! give people a chance!!!
i am a ex felon 23 years ago and i cant find a job if anyone knows someone that will hire a ex felon drop me a line at upokie43@yahoo.com i need a job bad things are getting worse for me and i don't know what to do or who to talk to about it...i had a health care job that went back 7 years to start and then they went back further so i lost that job and thats something i enjoyed...
I hope they'll be able to help me. I've got an odd situation where I still am unable to get a job because I'm a felon but because I didn't go to prison, every other program offered is unable to enroll me.
As a daughter of an inmate that has been incarcerated for 28 years and counting, I believe this is the best thing Ive heard ! Felons are people, they made a mistake and it cost them their freedom. If people actually got caught in what they engage in, then the prisons would be more over crowded than they are now. Thank God for programs like this. My mother is 64yrs old, being released w/in the year and with being her age and her "crime", it will be very hard for her to get employment. One stipulation of release from a penial institution is to obtain employment upon release or w/in 2 weeks, which is very difficult for certain crimes and bearing their age. This gives my family hope that when she comes home, she will have hope of "getting" a job that she already has training in and can be productive in soceity. May God bless your efforts in employing the "unemployable" so to speak and giving them a "new" chance at life.
Thank God there are still people out there with compassion. Sometimes, all people need is a break and I'm glad that ex-offenders are being given a chance to get their lives on track.
I'd rather that some of my tax dollars go to help rehabilitate ex-offenders than to support abortion.
