I hadn't yet seen anyone posit that Leavitt could give Gov. Fallin cover to expand Medicaid, but it's not implausible. As a July 21, 2012 New York Times article ("Romney Aide Helps States Comply with Health Care Law") made clear, Leavitt's firm makes money by helping states take advantage of the Obamacare Medicaid expansion. As one Cato Institute scholar observed wryly, "Leavitt" is Republican for "Solyndra." It bears watching.
In the long run, the states would save a lot of money through sticking with the obvious principle of bypassing the big, unnecessary middleman, known as the federal government.
