"Ethnic cleansing" seemed inflammatory to me at first. But do a little reading of the "legal" techniques used to chase off and abuse various ethnic groups in Europe in the 1930s and it will strike you that HB1804 and some of the recent televised remarks from Tulsa city and county law enforcement personnel read right on these ugly historical practices. I called the sheriff's and asked if it was a felony to take an "illegal" to lunch, and the response was it was subject to interpretation. I was disgusted. It appears that law enforcement is happy to scapegoat the illegal Mexican community to distract from their obvious problems with real crime in the city and county.

The overall zoning picture has not been clearly described here. Everything fronting 21st from Harvard to Gary Ave is zoned commercial of some sort. The house at Gary Ave and 21st was used commercially for years as a dentists office. The property on the west side of Gary Pl. on 21st used to be a gas station and has been a mechanic's service for years. The two duplexes mentioned are dumps and a major problem to the neighborhood, attracting low-life residents and drive-by shootings. Virtually anything QT would do with this corner would be an improvement to the neighborhood. Most cities would do anything to get businesses like Quiktrips. This battle just exposes Tulsa for what it is - backward and anti-business.
