I can understand the $75 fine for getting your dog out of the pound. It costs the city money to send out a worker to pick up the animal, then someone has to inspect them when they come in to the pound, food, water, shelter, etc. I get that. But another $75 if they are not spayed or nuetered? That's nuts. I am all for spaying & nuetering, but it's MY dog and MY choice and I shouldn't be fined for choosing not to nueter, no matter the reason. Maybe my dog is too old to spay or nueter, so you're going to fine me double for that? Maybe I plan to breed my dog, how is that any of your business & why do you get to cash in on it? You charged me the original fine for housing my pet to begin with. You are welcome to suggest some spaying & nuetering options & locations, but fining me? Does this fine come with a spay or nueter? Or am I paying for all the other mutts that no one will ever claim? Yeah, I think it's the later.
I am so sick of people complaining that downtown is too crime-ridden & they will never go there to see concert at the new arena or anything else downtown for that matter. Downtown NEEDS YOU, needs people to fill the streets & send the cockroaches running elsewhere. Funny how backwards Tulsa is....a few years ago I moved downtown to "get away from it all".
Crime is everywhere & downtown Tulsa is not the worst of it. True, I would not feel comfortable walking by myself downtown at night. Know why? Because it's empty! If there where more people walking around & hanging out I would feel completely comfortable walking alone. It's the dark, desolate streets that give criminals a nice place to hang out & wait for you. I don't see them around Cherry Street. Too many people & too much attention drawn to someone who looks suspicious. Do you think you will be harrassed by the homeless while walking with your family to an event at the new arena or a game at the new Driller's Stadium? Probably not since 50 other people will be walking around you in the same direction. Again, too much attention & activity sends the creeps scrambling for the dark.
And another thing...to all you chunky-butts that complain about walking 5 blocks to an event, GET OFF THE COUCH YOU LAZY DOLT.
Here's you: "I don't want to walk 5 blocks to my destination."
Here's what it translates to: "I am 100% lazy & I don't want to have to move my body any more than I have to. I mean, it's hard work for me to walk 5 parking spaces to see a movie at the AMC, and you want me to walk 5 BLOCKS?! What if it's raining? What if it's cold? What if it's hot?"
People downtown in other cities just deal with it. Tulsa has pretty mild weather so here's a suggestion: put on a coat, carry an umbrella & suck it up ya big pussy.
I was at that Driller's game, luckily I live nearby & walked to stay out of that traffic jam. That was the busiest Driller's game I have ever seen in my life! I think they sold out that night.
I've been to a ton of games & they are really enjoyable, traffic & parking are not much of a problem. If you're not too pissed over one person's action you should take your family back to a game. Don't write off the Driller's as a whole just because some broad copped attitude. If you want to avoid the mess try parking in the neighborhood across the street, we always do. You do not have to walk much further than the parking lot & it's a lot better than sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
I despise the self-checkout lines at Walmart. They NEVER work right. Self-checkout is supposed to be easy, more efficient, but NO, every time I scan an item I must bag the item. Fine, item bagged. Then why does it say I did not bag the item?! The item is in the bag, IT'S IN THE BAG DAMNIT, now why did the whole thing stop working until an employee comes over to "help"? The machine does this whole item-not-bagged-must-stop-working routine about every third item. DAMNIT! It makes me want to rip the monitor from the station & smash it while everyone watches in fear. I hate you self-checkout stations. I hate you & hope someone puts an unexpected item in your bagging area.
You know what pisses me off? Companies that lay off older, higher-paid employees so they can bring in some 21 year old chump to do the same job for half the cost to the company.
Both of my parents (in their mid-50's) are fighting for their jobs right now because they work for corporate dicks who show NO LOYALTY to their employees, only to their pocketbooks. Hey Mr. CEO, I'd bet your big, fat corporate bonus that my parents can & will do a better job than that goober in khakis you brought in to do a managers job for $25k a year (what's that phrase, "you get what you pay for"?). I know, I know...if you had to pay my parents their earned & deserved salary you might have to sell one of your vacation homes. Poor you.
What does firing a soon-to-be-retiring employee say to us younger generation of employees? It says "Don't be loyal to us because we sure as hell won't be loyal to you and as soon as you're old enough to retire we are going to f*ck you up the ass then fire you before you're financially ready". Gee, I'm so motivated to come work for YOU and help make all your caviar dreams come true.
I'm pissed that Driller's Stadium stopped serving Dippin' Dots and replaced them with a cheap impostor! Dippin' Dots is the ice cream of the future. The future is now. Please bring them back!
HSBC IS A PIECE OF SH*T COMPANY! Typical corporate BS...fire the middle aged employee who's worked for you for 11 years so you can bring in some 23 year old and pay them a lot less money. Get the f*ck out of Tulsa HSBC, and take your shady business practice with you!
Genghis rules! Reviewer was right on about having to stand in line for 15 minutes to build your bowl so if you go during peak hours be prepared to wait it out. I have been a few times & it only takes about 5-10 minutes to grill your bowl & bring it to your table.
I had baby corn appear in my bowl to! I did not put it there, I think it came in the fried rice and not from someone elses dish...but come to think of it I had a single green bean appear as well, possibly a stow-away from the veggie bar taking cover under my cilantro?
I will definitely go back to Genghis but late in the evening or before the lunch crowd arrives so I can make my bowl in peace without the pressure of a hundred people behind me waiting.
Hey Sally, how about making it more challenging to get married in the first place? Think about how many people are married that should never have married to begin with (I know of many). Maybe if it was as difficult & expensive to get married as it is to get a divorce people would not be so quick to get hitched.
Scott, Scott, Scott...get a clue. I love how you remove yourself & blame Tulsans for it. Get off your soap box & quit pointing the finger at everyone. You're just as much to "blame" seeing as how you're a member of this community.
I highly doubt parents are sprawled on the couch at 3pm while they send their kids to hang out at the local community center. I'd bet money most of these parents are AT WORK which does not let out at 3 when the school bell rings. I'd also bet money that you are not a parent.
Other people besides children use the community centers, many of them have programs for seniors as well. No one said community centers are an "entitlement"...you talk about it like it's the health care debate. It just sucks for kids that play & learn at the centers. And everyone knows, or everyone but you apparently, that kids with something to do (like hanging out at community centers) and an education (like learning through all the various programs & classes at community centers) prevents this crime wave you predict.
