After eating there several times, I can say that the food is okay/good and has a French Provaince style. The service varies from good to excellent. A good place to carry someone you wish to impress as well as talk to.
Apparently Urban Tulsa does not keep its Dining Out section up to date. Several of the eating places listed are no longer in business. And some long time eating places are not even listed. Being new to Tulsa and liking to dine at various ethnic/nationality eateries, I have attempted to use Urban Tulsa as a guide to such. Unfortunately, the success rate using the dining guide has been low.
Call your order in, the line has been known to be out the door. The food is good and served with the traditional sides when you get a platter. Zorba's is good competition for Tabouli's on Main north of 5th Street. Zorba's has started to get a good reputation among the office workers Downtown. Always ask what the special is. It is fresh and quicker to get should you be in a rush and forgot to call in your order.
Went to Jamil's for the first time on Friday night, 02/12/2010. I will go again. Tadbit of a wait to get seated but it was Friday nite and they were busy. Once I was seated the very busy waitress took my order. And shortly the food started to arrive. Fresh raw veggies with pickles, hummus, small fresh herb salad, two types of bread then came an excellent very light cabbage roll along with a couple of tender BBQ ribs and a good slice of fried bologna. I was nearly full before my prime rib with baked potato arrived, The prime rib was just right. I was able to eat a little over half of it along with most of the tater before I was too full to swallow any more. Got a “togo“ bag for sure. The place was clean, the food was excellent, the service was good considering how busy the place was.
Have ate in and called for carry out several times over the last year. First, there was a language barrier with the staff, my Spanish is bad and their English was worse. Next, the food was average considering the price. On more than one occasion I was served the wrong item, again the language barrier? Finally, the hostess, an older lady, seemed to not be able to grasp the idea that not everyone likes tortilla chips. All in all, this place rates 3 stars out of 5. When I need a TexMex fill up I head for Poncho's on Admiral near Memorial; cheaper, quicker and more to eat. Needless to say, I no longer go to Casa Laredo.
Have been to the India Palace a number of times. Prefer to go to the buffet because of the variety of dishes available. The service in the evenings is excellent. Good food at a decent price. Am going there for lunch tomorrow on St. Patrick's Day Maybe there will be green curry, yum!
Had my first meal at El Guapo's yesterday. Got the Enchiladas with Mole'. It was excellent. The sauce was not as bitter as some I have had and had a bit of a bite. Could have had a bit more of a chocolate flavor. The service was excellent. The food arrived in a timely manner. The place itself reminded me of some of the 6th Street eateries in Austin, TX. I am looking forward to returning to El Guapo's soon.
Over the last year I have been going to Margaret's just once and awhile. This week I had the pleasure of lunching there three days in a row. Good, flavorful, and solid meat, potatoes, and sauerkraut. Best of the German foods for sure. The special is always good and quick served. The sausages and sauerkraut are my favorite. The selection of beers runs from darks to pales, all good.
Have been going to Saigon Palace for roasted duck for three years. The duck, of course, is excellent. Have ate in and did carry out. Sometimes I will order something that I have not tried before at any other SE Asian restaurant. Any surprise has always been on the good side at Saigon Palace. There is a well stocked Chinese Supermarket in the same shopping center. Two birds with one stone when you go here.
Had lunch there on my one a few months ago, testing the waters so to speak. I found the lunch menu to be adequate though the prices were a bit high for lunch downtown. Ordered the "chicken-fried-steak". Found this simple dish to be ill prepared, i.e. unevenly cooked. The sides were nothing to brag about. Plus even for a moderate trencher such as myself the amount of food served was not enough to get me through the afternoon. The service was slow a best. Not going back unless someone else is footing the bill.
Have been going to this cafe before it was open for business. Like the coffee blends/roast served through the week. The lunch menu is nice with simple dishes that go well with coffee and the other beverages served. The desserts are just right for eating with coffee. I know some ladies that believe the lemon bars are the best around. Cafe' Topeca is located near the main entrance of the Mayo across 5th Street from ONEOK Plaza. Go There!!!!
Be Aware that there are no enchiladas served at this Mexican restaurant. Otherwise, the food is good and the service is very good. The fish tacos are excellent. There are a number of dishes that have sweet potato in them; dishes that I have yet to find elsewhere with sweet potato in them. The namesake dish, Elote, is corn on the cob. It is very good. I believe that they are now open for Dinner as well as Lunch.
A very good sandwich shop! There is a nice salad bar as well. The choices in sandwiches is excellent. Soups and side dishes abound and then there is pie! There is always a line during peak lunch hour time but the line moves quickly. They are open until 3:00pm, so if your lunch was delayed you still have a chance to get something good before they close.

Pricey! Water, bread, glass of passable wine, and a poor moderate size lasagna plus tip just under $30. No salad, no veggies! I guess I paid for the ambiance and quietness. There was just one couple in the place while I was there. The maître d' tried to set me next to them but I insisted on a table far enough away that I could not overhear their conversation. As to the food if the receipts were passed down from one generation to the next they must have lost something in said passage. The wine and service gave it 3 out of 5 stars on my list. Will not be returning to this one.
Been to this Billy Simms BBQ once. Fast food at its best! Good choices, fast service. Cleaned my plate and was not hungry after. The place reminded me of some Austin BBQ places I have enjoyed but on a smaller scale.
Had heard that Tally's is a great place for breakfast. So, I went there and found it to be moderately okay. There are better diners in Tulsa than this one. Most likely will not go back.
