Start in Style. Tulsa Oktoberfest begins Oct. 18, but before you get too deep into that pitcher of locally brewed seasonal, why not first take an Oktoberfest run with some of your closest friends and happy new acquaintances at the 2nd annual Lederhosen Lauf. A 4-mile timed run begins at 6pm, winding through the trail course on the east and west sides of the river. A 1-mile run begins at 6:15pm. Resgistration starts at 5pm. Lights ... Celebrate the native vision of filmmakers Mark Williams, Ryan Red Corn, Sterlin Harjo, and a number of other independent cinematic artists in the Red Fork Native American Film Festival. Featured is Williams' The Unrest, a telling of true and harrowing events at the Stone Creek Indian Boarding School. An art market will showcase paintings and other visual arts by regional artists. Deep Roots. Keep an ear to the street, and the beat, on Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma Day at the Guthrie Green, 111 E. Brady St. Sponsored by Tulsa Roots Music, feed your soul with the Harlem-influenced sounds of Shemekia Copeland's Chicago blues, Shannon McNally's country soul, and Samantha Crain's indie storytelling. The fun is free, with this downtown get down lasting from 2:30-6pm.

Minstrel in the Gallery. Although prog king Ian Anderson has, according to his own reports, long ago hung up his tights and codpiece, this front man of Jethro Tull still knows how to put on an out-of-the-ordinary show. Anderson and his band will perform Tull concept-album classic Thick as a Brick, as well as the new sequel piece Thick as a Brick II at 8pm in The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, 777 W. Cherokee St., Catoosa.
