The Last Round-Up

ABoT Music Awards voting closes June 16, and time's ticking

BY G.K. HIZER

Throughout the past four weeks, we've driven the message home over and over: Urban Tulsa's Absolute Best of Tulsa (ABoT) Music awards are truly left in our readers' hands.

The nominees were picked by you, and the winners will be decided by you. We want your votes and your opinions to keep the awards open and honest.

Many of you have listened and responded. Some of you have responded repeatedly, and that's fine, you can vote repeatedly to support your favorite artists. There might be a few of you out there that haven't voted yet or who want to vote again. If that's the case, the time to act is now as the window is about to close.

Yes, it's true: We would love to leave voting open longer, but it must come to a close and allow us to take a final tally, so you've got just a couple more days to let your opinion known and make your ballot count toward the final results.

We've got 28 categories to vote in, ranging from best male and female vocalist to album and song of the year. We're allowing you to pipe in on every genre from country and Red Dirt to Hip Hop, Jazz and indie rock. You can even have your say in naming the best cover bands, radio personalities and concert venues, but you have to cast your ballot now.

The easiest way to cast your ballot is to go to abotmusicawards.com. From there, you can pick which categories you want to vote for, listen to samples from each of the nominated artists, and cast your votes. We've made it as direct and simple as possible.

While we might not be able to share final vote counts, you'll get a good idea of whose popularity is overwhelming and which artists' fans voted in quantity when the awards are handed out and certain artists sweep their categories.

Nothing is set in stone yet, however, and there is still time for upsets and come-from-behind victories in every category. So go online and cast your ballot now. Voting ends Friday, July 16 at midnight, so you've got a couple more days to make your opinion known.

The final results will be revealed when we hand out the awards at the ABoT Music Awards at Cain's Ballroom on Thursday evening, August 5, and you're invited to be a part of the evening. Tickets are available online at protix.com or at Cain's Ballroom box office for $16 general admission or $26 reserved. So, cast your final vote and meet us at the party.
