Autumn is almost here, but that doesn't mean anything has cooled down on our local music scene. If anything, it's just as busy, even as we have over a dozen bands out of town as part of Stone River Music Festival. Your best bet is to join them for a weekend away, but if you're stuck in town, we've got the highlights to get you started strong.

Thursday, September 20

Kick off your weekend early with Boombox and opener Ishi at Cain's Ballroom.

Friday, September 21

It's a big night for indie rock in Tulsa, with shows all over town. La Resistance headlines the showcase performance of the night at Vanguard with The Secret Post opening the show. Just down the street, Soundpony features Creepazoids with Lizard Police and Man Hammer, while across town, The Shrine offers up a package with All About a Bubble, Jason Ferguson, Sunday Lane, OTSB and Bruce Flea. If you're in more of an Americana/rock mood, you can't go wrong at Mercury Lounge with Bright Giant. Meanwhile, the night's stealth show that you shouldn't overlook is Less Than Jake at IDL Ballroom.

Saturday, September 22

The weekend remains busy, but you can kick it off early and set the tone with New Morning at Agora Coffeehouse. From there, you can move on to the night's big show, Hillsong Live at BOK Center. Other options include Parker Millsap at the Colony, Dachshund at Hunt Club, Fast Food Junkies at Mercury Lounge and My Life With Thrill Kill Kult at IDL Ballroom.

Sunday, September 23

TulsaRootsMusic.org continues its weekly showcase at Guthrie Green with Nation Beat, The Claptet and Felix y Los Gatos for a family friendly gig. If you're looking for something different, however, extend the party vibe one more night with FuZed at Riverwalk Crossing.

Monday, September 24

If there's one "Can't Miss" show of the week, you've got to get out of the house and head down to Mercury Lounge for Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band on Monday night. This is indescribable indie Americana at its best and The Rev never lets his disciples down.

Tuesday, September 25

Finally, wrap up your week with an indie rock showcase of up and comers both national and local. Red Wanting Blue is the nationally touring headliner and locals The Bourgeois and Jared Finck open the show at Bob's.
