Even though October has flown by in a blur of major league shows, the month's not over yet. Don't be mistaken and think it will go out with a whimper, either. Thursday, October 25
If you're a classic rock fan, you won't want to miss Ian Anderson as he visits The Joint to perform Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick. Meanwhile, contemporary country fans should flock to Cain's for Lee Brice as he headlines the Ballroom with Kyle Park opening the show.
Friday, October 26
Myron Oliver returns to the Jazz Hall of Fame for an encore of his debut performance in September and will be joined by a number of special guests, including Ryan Ripperger, Eric Himan, Booker Gillespie, Cynthia Simmons, Cody Clinton, Leon Rollerson and a few surprises. Best of all, this is a free show and a great opportunity t take in the Jazz Hall with a blend of jazz, blues and soul.
Just across the tracks, Big Gigantic plays Cain's Ballroom with Griz opening and The Bourgeois shares the bill at Downtown Lounge with The Violet Lights. Of course, you can never overlook Mercury Lounge, as Hellbound Glory arrives to rattle the windows and start the weekend off right. And if you haven't gotten enough classic rock already, head out to River Spirit Events Center for the Blues Balls of Fire Tour with Foghat, Canned Heat, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Kim Wilson.
Saturday, October 27
Most of the evening is wound up with Halloween parties, but you can still catch some great tunes without the mayhem, including Family Folk Revival at Mercury Lounge, Radio Junkies at Woody's and GoGo Plumbay at Colony. Of course, there's also the weekly showcase at Guthrie Green and this week's outdoor party includes And There Stand Empires, Panda Resistance and Dead Sea Choir beginning at 7pm.
Sunday, October 28
The weekend finally relaxes a bit on Sunday, but that doesn't mean you can't find some cool tunes to relax to. The Guthrie Green continues its Sunday series with Richard Johnston, Rosie Ledet and The Zydeco Playboys beginning at 2:30pm and wrapping up by 6:30pm. Later in the evening, you can catch an old favorite by settling in with Paul Benjaman & Friends at The Colony or Brandon Clark's "Sunday Service" at Mercury Lounge.
Monday, October 29
Make sure to get out of the house for a great show at Soundpony with The Kickbacks, John Moreland & the Dustbowl Souls, Scales of Motion and The Thin Gins to make sure and keep you week lively.
Tuesday, October 30
Minus the Bear returns to Tulsa for a show at Cain's Ballroom with Cursive and Girl in a Coma opening. Afterwards, roll down the sidewalk to catch Foreign Home at Soundpony for an unofficial after-party before heading home.
Wednesday, October 31
Halloween finally arrives, and although it's mid-week, Cain's Ballroom throws a holiday dance party and blowout with StarFucker and Onuinu with doors opening and the show beginning at 8pm.
