Seen and Heard. Art and music is on the agenda tonight at Shades of Brown, 3302 S. Peoria Ave., with the opening reception of the Organum Records/ Fresh Produce Art Show on display for the month of June. The Fresh Produce Collective has spearheaded a powerful arts movement in Lawrence, KS for the last two years. Come listen to groovy, provocative Gogo Plumbay play at 7pm while you peruse the creations of artists and musicians-turned-artists. Classy Act. Want to slip "mini-road trip" into your summer 09' memories? Head out this evening to see the opening celebration for the OK Mozart Festival, which starts at 6pm outside the Bartlesville Community Center, 300 S.E. Adams Blvd. The festival continues through June 20 and features performances by internationally-acclaimed musicians, singers and dancers. Tonight's event kicks off the festival with face painting, prize giveaways, food vendors, music, entertainment and fireworks galore. Better yet, it's free. Big Baby. Come laugh and cheer today at 3pm for Tulsa Big Wheel where adults will ride (maybe turn over or tumble) down Boulder and 18th St. on 3-wheeled vehicles to benefit Cancer Sucks. And we aren't talking about a tricked out motorcycle; we mean the real deal, 3-wheeled, "not-suitable for adults" kind of vehicle. Participants have their tricycle of choice: will they ride the classic red tricycle or will it be the Star Wars 3000 Plastic Blaster? Show Off. The 2009 Performing Arts Center Summer stage line up is bringing the old and the new together with today's final performance of Fantasy Plaid Camp, 2pm in the Tulsa Performing Arts Center's Liddy Doenges Theater, 110 E. 2nd St. The performance takes a twist on the familiar act, Forever Plaid, a group of men who sing, dance and perform a number of other shenanigans by bringing in some outside talent who may have once thought "I can do that!" After weeks of preparation, these newly discovered stars try to prove they have what it takes to dance and sing alongside the old timers. Visit tulsapac.com for more.

Monday 6.15

Cool Down. The weather may be hot, but there's one band (its name at least) that's keeping it cool, Built by Snow.

This indie pop rock band from Austin takes the stage tonight at Soundpony, 409 N. Main, at 10pm. The band claims that their "music sticks to your brain like a magnet," and with influences like The Strokes, The Shins and the Talking Heads, it might just be true. After tonight, the band hits the road for a tour of the Midwest and a show in Toronto. Give Built By Snow a listen on myspace.com.

Tuesday 6.16

Bar-dom. It's Tuesday night, the week's just getting started and you're just not ready to let the weekend go. Kick it back to the weekend by coming out to Dirty's Tavern, 325 E. 2nd St., and 500 Riverwalk Crossing, Jenks. Dirty's has $2 domestic longnecks Monday through Saturday from 4pm to 8pm. The Tuesday night special is $2 domestic mini pitchers. In between brews, patrons can play some pool or shuffle board with compadres. Dirty's also has live music going all the time. Hear Me Roar. Head over to Central library this evening, second floor, 4th st. and Denver Ave., for an educational tour through women's history in medicine in a special traveling exhibit entitled "Changing the Face of Medicine." Come listen to stories of women fighting to gain access into the medical world and how they have made great strides over the last two centuries. The exhibit runs until July 24th with interactive kiosks and educational activities. The library closes at 9pm, Monday-Thursday and 5pm, Friday-Sunday. Sky High. See Tulsa from some of its highest places with Top of the Town from 6-10pm, an event that may change your perspective. A trolley takes you to the top of several downtown buildings including the Boston Building, Philtower and the 320 S. Boston Building. You'll also eat some delicious treats and listen to music (included in ticket price) while you take in the view. Tickets are $25 per person in advance and $30 the night of the event and can be purchased online at ccrctulsa.org. Ticket purchase will be available from 4pm-7pm the night of at 320 S.
