Deck the Halls

Many thanks to our readers! Urban Tulsa Weekly's fifth annual "Christmas for Kids" campaign has wrapped up and, it was once again a tremendous success. More than 100 children living in Oklahoma's Department of Human Services foster care system now have gifts under their Christmas trees for this year. We are so thankful that every child's name was removed from the tree.

Several readers, organizations and businesses went above and beyond with their donations by bringing in more than what was included on children's wish lists. Others brought in numerous gifts without ever selecting a name off of the tree. The abundance of toys, clothes, electronics and extra gift certificates for DHS was astounding.

We launched "Christmas for Kids" at the start of November to coincide with National Adoption Awareness Month. We hope you enjoyed our coverage and the light shed on the trends and circumstances about adoption in Oklahoma. We extend our gratitude to the generous readers who took the time to shop for these kids and bring the gifts to UTW. The names below are this year's donors who helped brighten the holidays for these children (apologies for any misspellings). Some of our donors wished to remain anonymous, and we want to make sure that you know we appreciate your generosity as well. And for those who may have preferred to remain anonymous, know that your name may serve as inspiration for your peers to help serve the foster care children in Tulsa next Christmas season. We hope to see you all during our next "Christmas for Kids" campaign!
