Thanks for the Treat
(In response to "Sandwiched Between" in the April 15-21 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly)
Dear Editor:
I don't even know where to start! I cannot thank you enough! We have been in business for 25 years and have only been written about once, by Suzanne Holloway, in 1992. The (Tulsa) World wrote about Coleman's pies being available in our store, a few years back, but nothing about our store, my staff and/or great food.
When your photographer came last week, I was so excited. Then ... I got really nervous. What if he says my brownies are mediocre like Suzanne Holloway did? What if he says my day old cinnamon rolls are dry, without mentioning that they were day old, half price cinnamon rolls, as she did? What if he was one of those that doesn't appreciate how crazy my staff is? What if he doesn't appreciate "dance moments" and sing-a-longs?
Well, my fears are calmed. It was an amazing article, and I really appreciate you recognizing my great, dedicated staff and appreciating that we make everything from scratch and that we love what we do! Please come in and introduce yourself, (Joseph Hamilton). I would love to meet you. We have live music on the last Saturday of every month and on Tuesday nights. It is always a lot of fun. Come hang out with us, if you dare. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Count Down
Dear Editor:
What is wrong with Republicans -- let me count the ways.
They are not a party for the people -- therefore, they must use massive amounts of misinformation and unsolvable causes to get power.
They must seek pockets of people that are unread, uncaring and uninspired. They do know their market, but that market is shrinking -- the young voters have higher communication skills.
When they recruit candidates, it is not necessary they be intelligent, honest or possess any personal integrity.
Only name recognition can get contributions from people that want access to lawmaking or lawbreaking power. It is important they be able to lie in the presence of facts to people who want to believe. You can always tell a Republican -- but cannot tell them much.
They are masters at chicanery, pettifogging and fear mongering that is necessary to support shallow thinkers as all kults must do.
The first Republican Party was formed from the failed Know Nothing Party in the 1850s. That tradition still exists today. They must use bumper sticker slogans keeping their message simple. They know their market well. Give them a Bible to pound (there are no literalists -- only gleaners), a flag to wave, people to hate, unsolvable causes in a democracy and they can be made salves of theocracy charlatans, elitists insiders and international profiteers.
The world is moving ahead, and America is falling behind refusing to provide food, shelter and healthcare for our own people. Republicans and the American Chamber of Commerce are job killers working for godless China and Third World slavers.
China is not our market. They are internalizing product manufacturing and ignoring patents. Republicanism is a false political doctrine -- economically and spiritually.
There has never been a prosperous Republican administration -- it is based on a top down wealth and power grid that always produces poverty and job losses. They must maintain many layers of media propaganda to keep power. These many levels or profit takers prevent prosperity from reaching the masses. A nation's prosperity only comes from bottom up when the people has excess earning over basic needs -- food, shelter and healthcare.
The Republican Supreme Court just destroyed American sovereignty by allowing international corporations the same campaign contribution rights as American citizens. The Congress must stop this intrusion or they themselves are in danger of being replaced by corporate stooges that are able to by-pass the parties altogether.
The passing of National Healthcare will negate one of the Republicans primary income source. The public wants the rogue financial system controlled, which will stop another money source for Republicans. When Pro-lifers wake up to see that Republicans cannot afford to solve the abortion issue and lose those votes, and that they have been abused for 30 years, then the party will lose another 17 percent of their voters.
Now, the only guaranteed voters Republicans have is the racists and haters of people different than themselves, and they must keep those voters or die out completely.
Hopefully, even those will figure out that greedy politicians and hate religions are not from God. God created love and logic for U.S. to live in peace. Republicans are dividers and misery makers -- that is why they are Wrong!

Fight the Good Fight
(In response to "Sisyphus Shrugged" in the March 25-31 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly)
Dear Editor:
Bravo Mr. Skrzypczak.
This great nation of ours is under siege from an entitlement mentality and the belief that we have a right not to be insulted, intentionally or not. Its roots are in government welfare handouts but it has grown into, as you say, "the mistaken belief that every perceived injury or subjective wrong can and should be remedied by payment of money." It's amazing to me how our once great legal system has degenerated into instant paydays for the slightest grievance. And the more successful you are the bigger a target you become to those looking for a free lunch.
Gone are the days when misunderstandings or perceived insults or wrongs -- whether real or imagined -- can be resolved without the threat of lawsuits and cash settlements. Acts of good faith are seen as weakness and admission of guilt. "Pain and suffering?" I pray we can return to days when those words actually mean more than a slightly bruised ego or a bit of embarrassment.
As to your newfound advocacy of reforming the civil tort litigation process, I have one word: Godspeed!
