Looking for a place for that special date or important
business associate? The Green Onion works for both. Start
your meal with the famous stuffed mushrooms or the Maryland
crab cakes. For dinner, try the tender filet mignon. If steak’s not
your game, try the Panko-crusted chicken breast, sautéed and
finished with a mustard sauce.

Queenie's

1834 Utica Square, 749-3481

Offering the basics like bacon and eggs is never a bad thing; but to get your morning off to a healthy start try Queenie's homemade granola, affectionately called 'Queenola.' For a more interesting version, though, try the breakfast sundae: nonfat plain yogurt, Queenola, fresh fruit and a side of honey.

MON-FRI 7AM-7PM; SATURDAY 8AM-5PM; SUNDAY 9AM-2PM

The Local Table

4329 S. Peoria, 794-8013

This Brookside restaurant uses local meat, dairy and produce whenever available. Start with a salad made with local greens or a goat cheese flatbread stuffed with smoked Gouda. Then, try Fried Chicken with a Cherry Tomato salad as an entrée. Other main courses include roast rainbow trout and Cajun meatloaf. As the season changes so does The Local Table's menu (depending on what's available), so keep your eyes wide open.

SUN-SAT 11AM-10PM

Crow Creek Tavern

3534 S. Peoria Ave., 749-9100

Usually eating crow is a bad thing, but this place is the exception. Crow Creek offers plenty of pub grub classics such as fried mushrooms, stuffed jalapenos, cheese sticks and more. If you're looking for something more substantial to go with your brews, try the signature Crow Burger or the grilled rib eye steak.
