Tulsa Parks will be celebrating the end of the summer season with the grand opening of the Chamberlain Park Water Playground at Chamberlain Park, 4940 N. Frankfort Ave.
The water playground, paid for with funding from the 2001 and 2006 sales tax and Vision 2025, will include interactive stations from fountains and water guns to water-spraying tunnels and buckets of water that splash down on passersby below.
"It's a good, practical and fun addition to the neighborhood," said Bob Hendrick, Tulsa Parks special events coordinator. "And there are no limits. I've seen toddlers at splash pads as well as adults who are just wanting to have some fun."
Helping with the grand opening will be Mayor Dewey Bartlett, Jr. who will be speaking at the grand opening event. Free ice-cream will also be served to park guests.
The grand opening celebration will begin at 2pm Thursday, Aug. 5. Other grand openings to follow in upcoming weeks will be water playgrounds located at Owen Park and Whiteside Park.
