Tulsa's D-League team is named the 66ers and is affiliated with the Oklahoma Thunder.

OK, who said true? Show of hands please. The answer is false. The 66ers are Tulsa's minor league basketball team, but the parent organization decided to call the team the Oklahoma City Thunder. Sorry to start with a trick question, but you need to be ready for anything in T-Town sports.

The 66ers first game of the season is this Friday, Nov. 19.

Not counting preseason contest, this one is true. Tulsa takes on Bakersfield in back-to-back road games to open the season. The team returns home to face the Iowa Energy on Friday, Nov. 26.

The 66ers play their home games at the SpiritBank Event Center.

A couple of years ago they did. However, they relocated after a rocky relationship with the SpiritBank Event Center. Now you can watch them take the court downtown at the Tulsa Convention Center, where they belong.

Nate Tibbets begins his second year as head coach of the squad.

Tibbets led the franchise to its first appearance in the D-League finals during his first season a year ago. He steered "us" to a 12-game improvement from the previous season.

He joined the 66ers in 2009 after spending four seasons with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League. After two seasons as an assistant with the Skyforce, Tibbetts was promoted to Head Coach prior the 2007-08 season.

The 66ers considered changing their nickname to Golden Eagles to make the influx of Oral Roberts players feel more comfortable.

Well, I'm pretty sure this one is false. The 66ers are named for the famous Route 66, which remains a landmark for out city.

On the current roster, Marcus Lewis and Larry Owens carry on the tradition of former Scott Sutton-coached players on the team. Both are solid additions and Owens is one of Tulsa's all-time hustle players.

Another player of note to this area includes former Baylor Bears guard "Tweety" Carter. He led the Bears to the Elite Eight last season and is a crunch-time guy.

Former OSU wrestling champion and former UFC fighter Jake Rosholt is on the cusp of reentering the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

For the unfortunate MMA fans that were not part of the thousands in attendance this past Friday night at the Joint in Tulsa, it is false. He suffered a beating at the hands of Matt Horwich in the main event while Sugar Ray Leonard looked on from ringside with his trademark smile.

Two student-athletes suiting up for the University of Tulsa happen to be children of sports royalty in this area.

True. Everyone knows about Sooners great and Congressman J.C. Watts. His son, Trey Watts, totes the rock for the Golden Hurricane football team. Did you know Lee Mayberry's daughter Taleya Mayberry laces up for the Golden Hurricane's women's basketball team? Mayberry was part of the Nolan Richardson experience at Arkansas. His daughter has pedigree too.

Tulsa football Head Coach Todd Graham works the media better than any other coach in T-Town.

False. If it were not for TU's basketball coach, he may have a shot at this one. Doug Wojcik is the complete package. Even though his squad lost two C-USA stars, expect them to remain at the top of the league this season.

If they do not, blame Wojcik's charming style. If he told me every orange cone and barrel in Tulsa would be removed in two weeks, I'd believe him. Check out this quote about a top-flight recruit Wojcik signed out of Texas for next year.
