Great Expectations
(In response to "Delayed to Death?" in the June 9-15 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly)
PLANiTULSA really needs to be implemented. We will continue to languish as an average city, constantly faced with the struggle up from fear of decline and mediocrity. PLANiTULSA starts us on a roadmap towards a much better future.
The old comprehensive plan needs to be done away with for it's no longer relevant to the world's and Tulsa's new realities. We can't "sprawl" our way to growth for much longer. The suburbs will beat us at that game. We have to start laying the groundwork for good "urban" growth. No -- superb urban growth.
Superior pedestrian friendly (which also means transit friendly aka transit that works and is affordable) growth. And begin to nurture the type of growth that will ensure we can become an enjoyable, beautiful, high quality, competitive city. This won't happen by accident or by sitting back and twiddling our thumbs and piddling along as per the usual while other cities have already made similar changes that are bettering their future. We needed to move ahead with all the haste and urgency we can.

Separate Entities
(In response to "Delayed to Death?" in the June 9-15 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly)
I believe it's something like this, Vision 2025 is the name of a public process to create a bright future for the residents of Tulsa County through an imaginative list capital improvement projects. Based on a vision of the future, the public created a list of projects believed to be important to realize the vision. The estimated cost to implement the entire list was about $4 billion.
The participants worked long and hard to determine a shorter list of the highest priority projects. This list was broken into four categories and put on the ballot for the public to approve or deny issuing bonds and increasing taxes to pay for the construction of these projects. All four categories were approved by the voters and many (if not most) of the projects have been constructed. These projects are making a huge difference in the quality of life for the residents of Tulsa County.
PLANiTULSA is the name given to the public process of updating the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Tulsa (not the County).
As many as 10,000 Tulsa citizens participated in the development of the "Our Vision of Tulsa" and the "PLANiTULSA" documents. Combined they represent the proposed update to the Comprehensive Plan. These documents were vetted during six months of public hearings conducted by the Tulsa Area Metropolitan Planning Commission.
The final documents received unanimous support from the TMAPC on July 6, 2010, and were forwarded to the City Council with a recommendation for approval. On July 22, 2010, the City Council unanimously approved PLANiTULSA and it was adopted as the new Comprehensive Plan for the City of Tulsa. The Comp Plan is a policy document intended to guide decision making to create the vision of Tulsa described in the "Our Vision for Tulsa" document.

Homeland Concern
Obama is AWOL most of the time. The biggest problems that can be solved are here -- not in Timbuktu -- but in Kalamzoo. Instead of working for the fly over Libya -- he should have been stopping the lies over the rust belt states. Instead of trying to bring peace to the Mid-East he should be trying to bring peace to the Mid-West and while Obama's troops were searching for the enemy Bin Laden, the 29 Republican governors were searching for the enemy teachers and public employees.
Obama is not a worker for the poor, he is a worker for the more and more and more. The things done right were only done half right or warmed over Republicans' plans like the healthcare that leaves the problem makers still profiting without any mercy. One of his worst flaws is hob-knobbing with international elitists instead of calling out all those here that would defeat US.
He should stop persecuting the whistle-blowers who get out the truth instead of putting those in jail causing US to fail, and the prayer breakfast theocrat traitor cult -- the family of hypocrites, liars and thieves. The middle of the road is a dead-end road without friends on either side. He could do better and we could do worse. Republicans and Libertarians are morons with no morals, no mercy and with masters of mammon.
P.S. The secret D.C. Cult -- the family is an ideology denier of the 60-year-old slogan -- "One Nation Under God." Believing that God does not authorize a nation to do Good in God's name -- only kings and dictators are authorized to do good by representing God as an individual or church representative -- using the obscure statement by Jesus to "take my message to the kings." They are anti the constitution that says "Promote the General Welfare" and believers that democracy is not from God -- but from men. They are missionaries and mules for this evil cult, their members are parasites on US by diverting secret monies around the world.

Politics 101
What is there to learn from the online affairs of Anthony Weiner, the married New York Congressman who talked dirty and sent x-rated photos of himself to several women?
Lesson 1. With a cell phone and a computer, you can cheat on your wife, husband or significant other.
Lesson 2. Power continues to be an aphrodisiac.
Lesson 3. Weiner needs to see Dr. Phil.
Lesson 4. When right-wing Republican blogger Andrew Breitbart put a photo of Weiner in his underwear on the internet to silence the Republicans' most effective critic, the liberal Democratic Congressman should have owned up to it.
Lesson 5. When you are a political attack dog, which Weiner was for us Democrats, don't expect anyone to come to your aid when you get caught with your pants down.
Lesson 6. Oklahoma voters were smart in 1990 when we limited our state legislators to 12 years. Weiner is a seven-term Congressman in his 13th year of office.
Lesson 7. Congressmen, women and senators should have a term limit of 12 years because they get so ego-locked like Weiner that they can't give up power voluntarily. They have to be knocked off their perch.
Lesson 8. Beware of little men. They have a Napoleon complex.
Lesson 9. Before asking Weiner to resign, remember four great politicians who had x-rated sex lives -- Kings of Israel, Solomon (with the queen of Sheba, 700 wives, etc.), Jefferson and Ben Franklin.
Lesson 10. Maybe, we should only care about what Congress does between 9 and 5.
