Remember When

(In response to "Welcome, New Members" in the July 21-27 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly)

I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your article "Welcome, New Members". I love reading about the history of Tulsa. It also brought back fond memories of a young 20 year old moving to the "big city" and starting life.

Working downtown for an oil company we were taken for special occasions to the Tulsa Club, Petroleum Club and the Summit Club. It all seemed so sophisticated. Haha.

Thanks for the research and the nicely written article.

Presidential Decisions

(In response to "Boycott the 2012 Election" in the August 11-17 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly)

Your August 11 article titled "Boycott the 2012 Election" contained a statement of extreme ignorance flavored with an ultimate anti-analogy. You wrote "Obama and Congressional Democrats went along with trillions in cuts, cuts that may lead to Soviet-style collapse."

First, there are no cuts, let alone trillions, because spending next year will be much higher than it is this year. When spending goes up that is called an "increase". If your salary is more next year than this year it is an increase not a cut.

Second, a Soviet-Style collapse is the result of unsustainable government spending such as what Obama and the Democrats believe in, and exactly not due to less government spending and greater free enterprise. Try a thought experiment. If the liberal Democrat contention that cuts in government spending causes economic collapse then has our record spending and our record debt not created the greatest economic boom in our nation's history? If deficit spending is good for the economy then we would never have a recession because we have been deficit spending by in large for generations. But I do love and support your suggestion for liberal Democrats to boycott the next election.

Mirror, Mirror

(In response to "A Curious Case, Indeed" in the August 11-17 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly.)

If the story above wasn't true, it could almost be a novel! I also went through a divorce with children and so have some knowledge regarding that kind of situation. This woman cares only for herself -- what other people may think and how much damage she can do to her ex. Has nothing to do w/the kids, only herself. That's the problem with the courts today, they DON'T use common sense when determining the best thing for children involved.

I know of a case now in Rogers County that is such a joke -- it would also make a great novel -- except it's true. Sad, so sad for the little boy. If Rothman is elected, whoever votes for her gets what they deserve and I can guarantee you that the fighting and bickering will continue. If there is anything to be learned from Rothman's history...she wants to be in charge and will go to any lengths to get there at any expense. In a nut shell, this is a perfect example of a narcissist.

Relatable Relations

(In response to "A Curious Case, Indeed" in the August 11-17 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly.)

What a hypocrite!!! She is on the board of Domestic Violence Intervention Services? What she did to Mr. Rothman and their children is criminal and she needs to be locked up.

I would not ever vote for her; in fact, I would write in the name "Bozo" cause she is a bona fide CLOWN!!! Ironically, same thing happened to my husband and his ex-wife. I wish he would have had McGowen as his PC. Unfortunately, the Rothmans's had more disposable income than my husband: He ran out of money and patience and could no longer fight "the system". Sad indeed!!!

Also Known As

(In response to "Council Connection" in the August 11-17 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly)

Nice article done about the up and coming election for our counselors. However, and it isn't know by many, but David Bell was never a State Trooper like he claims. When he retired, he was given a ID card for a Retired State Trooper by the then Chief (Chief L. Lockwood). He was only a Lake Patrolman and never made the actual transition over to being a State Trooper.

Full Disclosure

(In response to "Council Connection" in the August 18-24 issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly)

Liz Hunt has been knocking on doors for weeks in this heat. Obviously, she really wants to win this election.

Blake Ewing is a serious contender, even though he already has a very full plate, with all of his successful businesses downtown.

I'm not sure why they want to be elected, but I suspect that it's for personal reasons. I don't want to be elected enough to walk the District in this weather. I don't have a personal agenda that makes me want to be elected. I am offering myself as a counter-candidate in an effort to properly represent the people of my District and the City, rather than the special moneyed interests that have always run Tulsa. My political philosophy is summed up in the Bill of Rights, which basically says: "None of your business" and "Leave me alone."

If you elect me, the Council meetings will no longer be boring. If you like Ron Paul, you're going to love me.
