Party On! Rock-star hair, fashion-forward attire and lots of bling will be on display at this year's Rock 'n' Roll Street Party to benefit Street School. The 17th annual fundraiser will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Tulsa's Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Couples or groups who sign up to participate as Hardest Rockers will be soliciting for $20 votes for the coveted title. The couple or group raising the most money for Street School will be awarded the Hardest Rocker title and provided with a variety of prizes including a "blinged-out" guitar designed by art students at Street School.
Hardest Rocker contestants include: Mayor Dewey Bartlett and his wife Victoria; Chera Kimiko from Fox23News and Chuck Zoellner from Zoellner Chiropractic; Tulsa Fire Department Public Information Officer Stan May and his wife Jennifer; Rick Palazzo from Tulsa Tech and Judith Maumus from AEP/PSO; and representatives from Cherokee Nation Business including Amanda Clinton, Molly Jarvis, Emily Helling and Linda Wall.
All donations are used to support the Street School mission of dropout prevention, intervention and recovery. "We are raising 59 percent of our own funding this school year due to the elimination of funding from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. The 2012 Street Party is more important than it has ever been before. We would like to see record turn out to support a great school with great kids," said Street School Executive Director, Lori McGinnis-Madland.
The event will feature hors d'oeuvres, music by the Boogie Boys Band, and silent and live auction items. Silent auction items will consist of art created by Street School students.
Live auction chairs, Ginny Creveling, Lynn Jones and Suzanne Stewart are still securing live auction items, but currently, items up for bid include: lunch for seven people with George Kaiser; a two-night stay at Cross Timbers Rockport Cottage on Skiatook lake complete with boat rental and dinner at the Lakeside Grill; a Hard Rock Hotel and Casino hotel, golf and concert ticket package; dinner for six with Tulsa firefighters at a local fire station; a ticket package to the OU versus Notre Dame football game in 2013; BOK Center loge box seats to the James Taylor concert on July 18th complete with hotel accommodations; autographed George Straight guitar; artwork created by Street School students to promote Roger Waters and The Wall concert tour and signed by Roger Waters; jewelry from Susan Sadler.
