Another week down and the temperatures are starting to be more bearable, which makes an outdoor show even more appealing. We've already given you the details for Blue Rose Riverfest, but there's plenty more going on this week, so here are a few highlights to get you pointed out the door and in the right direction.

Thursday, August 23

The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino goes from rocking out to the Vegas vibe as Englebert Humperdinck brings his classic pop to Tulsa for the older crowd. If you're looking for something more indie-minded, check out Cody Slane at Hunt Club or The Incredible Mockingbird Hillbilly Band at Soundpony to kick your weekend off early.

Friday, August 24

The best show of the night just might be the John Fullbright with The Stray Birds at All Souls Acoustic Coffeehouse, but this one is now sold out, so be grateful if you're one of the lucky ones with tickets. This is also opening weekend for The Shrine, so arrive early to check out a stacked bill that includes Tony Romanello & the Black Jackets, The Fiddlebacks, Roots of Thought and more. And while you're hanging out at 18th & Boston, don't forget to stop in at Mercury Lounge to see Chad Sullins & the Last Call Coalition, who nearly stole the night from Stoney LaRue a few weeks ago and return to Tulsa to headline their own show, which will surely be one of the best of the weekend.

Saturday, August 25

Foreign Home celebrates the release of its new CD, How Strange the Night, with a party that includes friends Scales of Motion and Ester Drang at The Vanguard, making it the can't miss show in town on Saturday night. The Shrine also continues its opening weekend with Nothing More, American Tragedy, The Bourgeois and Scotty Isaacs and Mercury Lounge strikes again with Mike McClure taking over for the night.

Sunday, August 26

You can't overlook the biggest, loudest, most outrageous rock show of the year as the Godfathers of glam-metal, KISS, share a double bill with their protégés (and now, elder-statesmen of metal) Motley Crue for an explosive show at BOK Center. If you're in the mood for something a little more relaxed and classy, the Jazz Hall of Fame continues its summer concert series with The Eicher Family Band and Janet Rutland for a night of classic roots and pop.

Lyle Lovett & his Large Band returns to Tulsa for a show at Brady Theater that promises to be fabulous. And if you're in the mood for a short road trip, you can't go wrong by heading to the Zoo Amphitheater in OKC for Phish, as the iconic jam band makes its first ever concert appearance in Oklahoma.
