Sweat for Success. Help raise both awareness and cash for the fight against breast cancer, which is developed by one in eight women, and also celebrate the triumph of survivors and hope for the future at the 16th annual Race for the Cure. Triple Treat. A mixed repertory evening begins the 2012-2013 of the Tulsa Ballet. The three very different, but complementary, performances will include Jorma Elo's Slice to Sharp, a high-energy piece offering exquisite contrast to Wayne McGregor's PreSentient, and Edwaard Liang's Age of Innocence, the latter inspired by the works of one of literatures most respected female authors, Jane Austin, and set to the music of Philip Glass, this visual and auditory spectacle is sure to excite. Performances will be held at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, 110 E. 2nd St.

Cross Your Heart. Leave the sweat and tears at home, but bring your body and blood down to the American Red Cross Blood Drive hosted by OSU-Tulsa and the Langston School of Nursing. Healthy individuals are encouraged to come donate little bit of time and about a pint of blood which will be used to help local hospitals and emergency rooms. The drive will be held from 1-7pm in the Main Hall Commons of Oklahoma State University Tulsa, 700 N. Greenwood Ave.

Greener on the Other Side. Listen up for hot tips this season not just from the neighbors, but from the experts too. Jerry Pepin of PICKSEED USA and Tulsa Garden Center Director of Horticulture Barry Fugatt will present their lecture Cool Season Grasses at the Tulsa Garden Center Auditorium, 2435 S. Peoria Ave. Learn how to transition your garden smoothly from sun scorched summer style to cool and under control, and get your garden by with a little help from your friends.

Author of His Own Fate. Dr. Michael L. Wehmeyer has taken control of his destiny in the writing of Good Blood, Bad Blood: Science, Nature and the Myth of the Kallikaks. His book chronicles the unfortunate history of the "Kallikak" family as they were touted "genetic degenerates" by the scientific establishment by doctors at the forefront of the eugenics movement n 1912. Setting the record straight about everything from the economics to the science of eugenics, Wehmeyer will speak about his ground-breaking book at the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. 7-8:30pm.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Support a group that has been allowing girls to have fun in a safe and secure environment for more than five years. Get out for a good cause mid-week and attend Through a Child's Eye, a Tulsa Girls Art School benefit. Held at the Mayo Hotel, 115 W. 5th St., in the Crystal Ballroom, this celebration promotes not only a fresh face of fashion, but also highlights the work of the school, which helps underprivileged girls develop every thing from self-esteem to financial savvy and life learning.
