Since my last review for Trula, I have been back twice. The 1st time was on my boss's ticket. Trula had a new menu for lunch, really changed since last year, less items on it. Got the ravioli. It was decent. Though it was an entree I found it to be a smaller proportion than I like. The price was still steeper than the average Downtown lunch. Service was average. The next time, today, I got in with no wait, just after noon. Ordered the crab cake small plate with iced tea. The crab cake was way too moist. Though the sides were well browned there was no crunch. The fried tomatoes were better than most I have had before. AND the price with a modest tip ate a Hamilton completely. Still think that I will only return there if someone else foots the bill.

I have eaten at Trula twice. I enjoyed the sea scallop appetizer, but didn't think that the sea bass tasted like any sea bass I had ever eaten before (and, I don't mean that in a good way). However, last night's dinner plumbed the depths. I am still furious at myself for not sending back an inedible portion of dry ground beef that was supposed to be meat loaf. I am also still digesting it. There was no seasoning to the meat. I really hate to buy something in a restaurant only to discover that I could have made the particular dish better myself. One of our guests did praise the cocktail she was served and there were some good wines.

Had lunch there on my own a few months ago, testing the waters so to speak. I found the lunch menu to be adequate though the prices were a bit high for lunch downtown. Ordered the "chicken-fried-steak". Found this simple dish to be ill prepared, i.e. unevenly cooked. The sides were nothing to brag about. Plus even for a moderate trencher such as myself the amount of food served was not enough to get me through the afternoon. The service was slow a best. Not going back unless someone else is footing the bill.
