I have never been more dissapointed in my 60 years. Well, maybe once when my aunt undercooked the bean soup. Anyway, the fish and chips are not even one step up from the "Skully's catch of the day." Gorton's probably provided the small thin pieces of so-called battered cod to the half cut fries. However, the other two dishes seemed to please my guests very well. The staff was great, couteous and friendly - the fish and chips, Long John's will be better, but only if you eat in. Tanos

I saved this box to comment on the staff at the White Lion, they are experienced and professional persons. Craig and Susan are a team and will take very good care of you. They are the only waiters at the pub, they can seat you, take your order, make your drinks, carry your food, run your ticket, cash you out, bus your table and even take time to get to know you, but don't worry John and Betty are there to back them up making this a wonderful experience.....its a great little place. They are small and they get very busy so reservations are a GREAT idea! John and Betty are the owners and they will come out to greet you when their in the house. You will know Betty as shes says hello love, with that beautiful Liverpudlian accent and John with his quiet kindness will make you feel welcome. They have Beer Tasting & Wine Tasting Dinners each month by reservation only. Believe me you'll want to be a regular.

This is a charming authentic English pub with beautiful dark colors, dark wood pub tables, lace, and old English antiques. The only thing on the menu that is fried are the fish and the chips and sometimes Scotch Eggs and or Crab cakes. Most of the dinners are baked and have a light puff pastry over the top or are contained in the pasty which is also made with the puff pastry. All the dinners are made fresh when you order. They have a weekly chalkboard special which is always divine. The beers are imported and they have a full bar with a fine selection of single malt scotches. The staff are fun, caring, and diligent. Susan has been there for years...and will get to know you by name. They opened on February 18th 1999. Its like stepping into the old country without the air-fare or high prices!!!
