Meet Our Intern

Chelsea Boen, a senior at Oral Roberts University majoring in graphic design, has had an all-around interest in art from an early age. "I've always loved art," she said, "and it is something I have a natural talent for."

While her favorite medium is painting, and she has developed a proficiency in computer-aided graphic design, Boen hopes after college to find a job in illustration. "I prefer to use my drawing skills over my design skills," she said, and she has already put this interest to work.

"Some friends and I do a comic that was published a few times in the college paper (ORU's The Oracle)." Titled, Any Other Universe, the comic follows the daily experiences of a "young guy going through college," Boen said. "A really quirky character. We try to make it funny." They would like to turn this hobby into a profession.

Boen also has an interest in painting, which she said is her "all-around favorite art." "I like to paint in oils, but this gets really expensive," she said, "so I use mostly acrylics." Her favorite subjects are people. "Not necessarily portraits, but human figures doing something," Boen said. "I enjoy doing surreal kind of portraits."

Boen's other interests include video games (with Legend of Zelda a favorite), Goju Ryu karate, and crafting clothing and jewelry. "So I'm just very artsy all around."
