Although we got a slight break of the past few weeks, October kicks off with a packed calendar of great shows. There are far too many to list all of them here, but we've got all the highlights fo r you here, including a packed extended weekend at Mercury Lounge, and Oktoberfest at Fassler Hall, so check these out before heading out the door.

Thursday, October 4

Andy Frasco & the UN returns to Mercury Lounge to start the party and kick off the weekend early. This is always a great show you won't want to miss. Of course, Theory of a Deadman also appears on the Oklahoma stage at the State Fair.

Friday, October 5

Mercury Lounge proves to be the place to be again, only this time it's a different vibe as First Lady Assassins plays a rare reunion show that brings punk rock back to the corner of 18th & Boston. It's a packed night, though, as John Calvin plays The Colony with Young Readers and Damion Shade & the Savage Young, Freakshow is at The Vanguard with 1oz Jig and Badroot and The Shrine brings Dirtfoot with Grasscrack for a night of jam-rock and speedgrass. Friday also kicks off Oktoberfest at Fassler Hall, sponsored by Marshall Brewery, with Pilgrim and My So Called Band

Saturday, October 6

Oktoberfest continues at Fassler Hall with Gast Band Blaskapelle opening the night, followed by Hosty Duo, Evangelicals and Broncho for a wild night of revelry. The Vanguard also brings another special show with headliner Graham Colton that also features special guest Fiawna Forte playing a rare acoustic set and Chase Stites opens for his last gig in Tulsa before departing for South Florida on Sunday. This is also the biggest night of the week for Mercury Lounge as The Supersuckers make a rare appearance that will definitely sell out. There are only a few tickets left, so grab them early at The Merc for only $10.

Sunday, October 7

Beausoleil and Three Bad Jacks appear as part of the weekly series at Guthrie Green, beginning at 2:30pm and the evening includes All About a Bubble with For a Wolf and The Phuss at Hunt Club and a headline show at Cain's Ballroom by Ryan Bingham with La Santa Cecelia opening.

Monday, October 8

Cain's Ballroom hosts a night of dubstep with Datsik, Terravita, XKore and Getter that will have the old dance floor bouncing all night long. The night's most impressive show, however, will undoubtedly be a rare appearance by The Choir with Scales of Motion opening at The Vanguard

Wednesday, October 9

Finally, the week wraps up with classic punk and classic rock. The punk show brings seminal act The Queers to The Vanguard with The Shame, They Stay Dead, Streetlight Fight and The Decomposed. '80s fans, however, won't want to miss a night of classic arena rock with Journey, Pat Benatar and Loverboy at BOK Center, beginning at 7pm.
