It's often said that character is revealed in times of adversity. Well, John Steinbeck was a master at sketching how our basic humanity triumphs or gets trampled during tough times. Of Mice and Men, his classic tale of two migrant farm workers, will be presented at 8pm by American Theatre Company at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, 110 E. 2nd St., with shows also March 7 and 9. Crafty Fun. More than 50 craft and food vendors will showcase their wares at the Made in Oklahoma Arts and Crafts Show in Broken Arrow from 9am-5pm. Admission is free, with the event held at the Persimmon Hollow village at 6927 S. 115th E. Ave. (one block east and one block north of E. 71 Street and S. Garnett Road). The show continues March 10.

Modern Stars. Few rock bands come bigger than Muse, playing at the BOK Center, 200 S. Denver Ave., with the alternative stars from England able to boast over 15 million album sales and many music awards -- including several singling out the band's live performances. At 7pm, with guest Dead Sara. Ticket info at bokcenter.com.
Classical Arts. Support student musicians performing in orchestra, concert band and concert choir at a free Tulsa Community College's Music Department concert at 7pm at the VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education, 10300 E. 81st St. The department's show choir, jazz combo and jazz band perform March 12.
Enter the Improv.
For a change, let someone compliment you on your "acting out." Newcomers are welcome at a Laughing Matter Improv class, 6pm at Heller Theatre, 4825 S. Quaker Ave., as masters of the craft teach a thing or two about the art of being spontaneous and funny.
Tip Off. Conference USA hoopsters vie to be the best as the BOK Center, 200 S. Denver Ave., hosts the C-USA 2013 Championships, with the men's first-round games starting at 3:30pm. The women start at 11am at the Tulsa Convention Center. Action continues through March 16. Ticket info at bokcenter.com.
Pi is Pie. It's a day to celebrate of the mathematical constant named after a Greek letter but known across all languages as 3.14 (roughly). But what better way to celebrate National Pi Day than with a pie eating contest at Whole Foods Market, 1401 E. 41st St., with the sloppy eating to begin at 1:30pm and a $50 gift card touted as the grand prize.
