Queenie's
1834 Utica Square, 749-3481
Offering the basics like bacon and eggs is never a bad thing; but to get your morning off to a healthy start try Queenie's homemade granola, affectionately called 'Queenola'. For a more interesting version, though, try the breakfast sundae: nonfat plain yogurt, Queenola, fresh fruit and a side of honey.
Hours: MON-FRI 7AM-7PM; SATURDAY 8AM-6PM; SUNDAY 8AM-2PM
Whole Foods
1401 E. 41st St., 712-7555
In a hurry and not sure what you feel like eating? Whole Foods has a tasty dish for any palate. Visit the salad bar for some raw, nutrient dense goodness. If you want something quick, try a slice of hot pizza. Eat up and these cruise the aisles while you grocery shop.
Hours: MON-SUN 8AM-10PM
White River Fish Market
1708 N. Sheridan, 835-1910
You know the seafood counter at your neighborhood market? Well, this place is like that except they'll cook your seafood for you anyway you like it. One cannot help but feel tempted by the fresh selection of oysters and cocktail shrimp as an appetizer. White River offers grilled catfish, swordfish and tuna steak. If the grill's not your game, try the smoked salmon or one of the many fried options like catfish, stuffed crab or clam strips.
HOURS: MON-THURS 8AM-8PM; FRI-SAT 8AM-8:30PM
Crow Creek Tavern
3534 S. Peoria Ave., 749-9100
Usually eating crow is a bad thing but this place is the exception. Crow Creek offers plenty of pub grub classics like fried mushrooms, stuffed jalapenos, cheese sticks and more. If you're looking for something more substantial to go with your brews try the signature Crow Burger or the grilled rib eye steak.
Hours: SUN-SAT 11AM-2AM; KITCHEN HOURS SUN-THURS 11AM-10:30PM; FRI-SAT 11AM-12AM
