Flash Back. Journey through life's history as the Cascia Hall Preparatory School fine arts department presents Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along in the school Helmerich Theatre, 2520 S. Yorktown Ave. Directed by Meredith Purgason, Merrily moves backward through the characters' lives in order to tell their stories, illustrating where minor choices made big impacts. Tickets to the show are $5-$10. Audience members 21 and up can attend a dinner theatre presentation of the musical on Saturday. An Italian dinner and glass of wine will be served for $15 prior to the performance. All proceeds raised from the event go toward the school's fine arts department. Out and About. Galleries in the Brady District throw open their doors to the Tulsa public the first Friday evening of each month for the First Friday Art Crawl. The Tulsa Glassblowing Studio, 19 E. Brady, offers free glassblowing demonstrations 6--9pm, and at Club 209, 209 N. Boulder, patrons will see graphic artist Erin Whitson's show Abstract Impressions on exhibit from 7 till 11pm. Other businesses that will be exhibiting include Tulsa Artists' Coalition, 9 E. Brady, and Living Arts of Tulsa, 307 E. Brady. The Art Crawl starts around 6pm. Baby Boom. The youngest generation will have its day at Expo Square this weekend with the 11th annual Baby Fest and Family Expo. The event is free and will showcase products and services for families expecting children or with children 12 and younger. Cash prizes will be awarded in contests for Cutest Baby, Cutest Toddler, Parent/Child Look Alike and more. The exposition will also feature live performances and a huge inflatable obstacle course. A private "Comfort Area" will be available with a nursing area and diaper-changing stations. Round of Snaps. This week's concert in the All Soul Acoustic Coffeehouse series is a double feature, teaming up songwriters Lucy Kaplansky and Will Kimbrough. Kaplansky is based out of New York City and has recorded with many well-know contemporaries, including Shawn Colvin and Nanci Griffith. She has performed at the Acoustic Coffeehouse twice. In 2004, Kimbrough was the American Music Association's Instrumentalist of the Year, and he released a full-length studio album, Wings, this past February. The Truth is Out. Paul Newman and Julie Andrews star in not-no-newly released Torn Curtain, which will be screened at the Circle Cinema, 12 S. Lewis Ave. Newman plays Professor Michael Armstrong, who apparently defects to Eastern Europe during the Cold War. His assistant and fiancée Sarah Sherman (Andrews) follows him, discovering that his real mission is to steal a secret mathematical formula from the Soviets. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Torn Curtain was originally released in 1966. The screening will be at 7:30pm. Adult tickets are $8.25 and student and senior tickets are $7. On the Top. It is not just normal old oil-and-canvas this month at the M.A. Doran Gallery, 3509 S. Peoria Ave. The gallery presents Surfaces, a group show exhibiting several artists' encaustic and poly-resin mixed media paintings. Both encaustic (hot wax) and poly-resin have a sculptable quality that makes them versatile mediums. The show demonstrates how artists might use some less-traditional mediums to produce textural, dynamic paintings. Swing Around the Posies. It's time to have a swinging good time with old friends or new friends at Swing Tulsa Style West Coast. Every Wednesday at Whiteside Recreation Center, 4009 S. Pittsburg Ave., join the group in the basic class at 7pm, or if you're trying to advance some of your skills, check out the intermediate class, also at 7pm. Learn the basic six-count moves or step it up to the eight-count, which basically means "walk-walk, triple step, walk-walk, triple step." Want to know what that means? The Madness Begins. The BOK Center, 200 S. Denver, brings March Madness to Tulsa this year by hosting the 2010 Conference USA Men's Basketball Tournament. The University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane will compete against teams from Memphis, Rice, SMU, Tulane, East Carolina, Southern Miss, Marshall, Houston, UAB, UCF and UTEP. The winner of this tournament gains the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The first game begins at noon Wednesday, and the championship game is 10:30am Saturday.
