Up to the Mound. Construction on the long-anticipated ONEOK Field, 201 N. Elgin, has reached home, and the stadium is ready for its first big event, the Tulsa Drillers' season opener. The new facility has been under construction since December of 2008. The Drillers are the Double A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies and play in the Texas League. The season opener will be against the Corpus Christi Hooks. The game starts at 7:05pm, and the first 5,000 fans will participate in a lanyard and Ticket Holder giveaway. Funding the Arts. America's oldest community theater this side of the Mississippi, Theatre Tulsa inaugurates its 2010-2011 season with its annual spring fundraiser, Hats Off Celebration. Theatre Tulsa will be revealing what shows are in the lineup for the season and will be offering season tickets at the discounted price of $50. Hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and musical entertainment will be provided, and a silent auction will be going on with goods and services from area vendors. Coming up Daisies. Take advantage of the end of the icy season and prep for spring planting. Stop in at the Tulsa Garden Center's annual SpringFest Garden Market and Festival. The festival will be the place to find all different kinds of plants, garden information, tools and art, food and entertainment. Proceeds from the Garden Market and Festival will go to the Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria, located in Woodward Park. The festival will be open from 9am--4pm. Heart on a String. For 26 years, the Cavani String Quartet has impressed audiences with its sensitivity and coordination. Now, Chamber Music Tulsa presents the final show in its season by bringing them to Tulsa for a performance in the John H. Williams Theatre of the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, 110 E. Second St. The group's name comes from a prominent violinmaker in 19th Century Italy. The quartet consists of Annie Fullard and Mari Sato on violin, Kristen Docter on viola and Merry Peckham on cello. The performance will feature music by Mozart and Beethoven. The concert is at 3pm. Outside of the Lines. In the heart of the trendiest part of Brookside is an art gallery that features the best of both local and national artists -- the M.A. Doran Gallery, 3509 S. Peoria. This month, the gallery hosts an exhibit of new works by artist Michelle Firment Reid in a series called Looking Over the Horizon/Pushing the Boundaries. The works in the series reflect the changing of the seasons from winter to spring. The exhibit will run through May 1. Mother's Nature. The Tulsa Artists' Coalition, 9 E. Brady, presents a new exhibition by Oklahoma native Kristy Lewis Andrew, Motherland: A View of Our Landscape. Running through April 24, the exhibit focuses on nature and its spirituality and harmony. Andrew earned her M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has shown nationally in many exhibitions. She is represented by the M.A. Doran Gallery. Fast Talk. Art and pizza join forces at Joe Momma's Pizza, 112 S. Elgin, in a multi-disciplinary presentation sponsored by the American Institute of Architecture of Eastern Oklahoma and the chapter's Young Architects Forum. ChitChat2 will feature nine artists from the community who will present 20 images of their work for 20 seconds each and speak about the images. Hope the presenters don't get tongue-tied with that timing. This is the second event of its kind, and the second is expected to be as successful as the first. For more information, call 583-0013.

Cutting a Rug. There's no better way to make the last rounds to Earth Day than to actually talk about being green. Philbrook Museum, 2727 S. Rockford Rd., partners with SR Hughes to present rug designer Stephanie Odegard. She will be giving a lecture titled "Sustainable Design and Social Responsibility" in the Patti Johnson Wilson Auditorium at Philbrook Museum at 6:30pm, in commemoration of the green holiday. If you're not able to make the lecture, Odegard will also be giving a demonstration of her techniques at 5:30pm. There is limited seating available.
