Newsy Nuptials

During a lunch break from the Urban Tulsa Weekly, Jennifer "Jennie" Lynn Lloyd and Joseph "Joe" Christopher O'Shansky were married Wednesday morning in downtown Tulsa.

District Judge James Caputo married the couple at the Tulsa County Courthouse.

The in-house wedding of two writers was a first for the alternative weekly, where the bride and bridegroom are both employed.

The bride, 32, is the city/state news reporter for UTW. She writes stories about city and state politics, media, business and downtown development, among many other topics. She is the oldest daughter of Jeanine Landey of Tulsa and John Lloyd of Lakeland, Fla.

The bridegroom, 40, is the film critic for UTW and an employee of Tulsa Community College. He writes a funny, in-depth column each week about the latest movie releases. He is the only son of Janet O'Shansky of Broken Arrow and the late Karl O'Shansky.

Before the courthouse nuptials, UTW Creative Director Gavin Elliott photographed the pair in the newspaper's photo studio, while UTW Editorial Manager Mandie Rowden offered moral support and congratulations.

The bride wore a black cocktail dress with shimmer-red tulle petticoat. The bridegroom wore his favorite dark-grey velvet sportcoat over a button-down shirt and jeans.

This is the bride's second marriage, and the first marriage for the bridegroom. Jennie brings two sons, Stephen and Elliott, to the marriage. The couple have one dog together, a pitbull named Mona.

Jennie took Joe's last name, but her byline will remain the same. The pair is planning a reception and honeymoon in late March.
