Bundle Boys. Osage Casinos helped make winter much warmer for more than 200 children at the Osage Nation Head Start program.
Winter coats were provided on the last day before the holiday break for 210 children who attend school at the Osage Nation Head Start programs in seven locations throughout Osage County. Funding for the coats from the casino was approved by Osage Nation Principal Chief John Red Eagle.
Head Start is a federally funded preschool program for 210 children ages 3-5 years old throughout Osage County. Classrooms are located in Pawhuska (2), Skiatook (3), Fairfax (3), and one each in Barnsdall, Shidler, McCord and Hominy.
Osage Nation Head Start teaches children not only the basics they need for school, but also promotes family and community. Osage Nation Head Start offers revolving themes, classroom activities, field trips, and welcomes family and parent involvement.

Fight For Life. For millennia, humans have debated the value of human life. Since the U.S. Supreme Court's decision, Roe v. Wade (1973) legalizing abortion, scholars, theologians and politicians have continued to debate the subject of abortion and other life issues, such as euthanasia, stem cell research and their legal/moral ramifications.
As the anniversary of the court decision draws near, pro-life advocates gear up for the Tulsa March of Life on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 2pm. The rally begins on the steps of Holy Family Cathedral between 8th and 9th Sts. along Boulder Ave. and continues to the Chapman Centennial Green--a walk of 6 blocks in support of life.

Dr. Francis J. Beckwith, Professor of Philosophy & Church-State Studies at Baylor University and the author of numerous books including "Politics for Christians: Statecraft as Soulcraft," will deliver the keynote address.

Bookies Commit. Tulsa City-County Library and TYPros are teaming to welcome best-selling Oklahoma author Tammi Sauer. She will entertain families with her stories and sign copies of her books at the Schusterman-Benson Library, 3333 E. 32nd Place, Jan. 24 at 5:30pm. After the presentation, families can enjoy a pizza party and visit with Sauer. This event is free and open to the public.
Sauer is an award-winning author of popular books like "Mostly Monsterly," which won the 2011 Oklahoma Book Award, "Cowboy Camp," and "Chicken Dance." Her newest book, "Mr. Duck Means Business," focuses on a territorial duck who gets his feathers ruffled when the barnyard animals visit his peaceful pond for a swim. New Birth. The Armand Hammer Alumni-Student Center is the first building to be erected on the Oral Roberts University campus in 27 years. The groundbreaking is at 12pm on Jan. 25.
The center (which will be over 28,000 square feet) includes two food formats and a coffee format. The second floor of the center (which will be about 3,200 square feet) will house the ORU Alumni and Career Services offices as well as a lounge for alumni. The center's lower level will contain ORU Student Association offices and workroom, more food services, game/tech zone, a large main lounge, and a large living room area with a fireplace and seating (both inside and outside of the building).
