After a relatively quiet week, the local concert calendar is blowing up again. The best part of it, though, is the diversity of choices. As always, we've sorted through and picked out the highlights to help get you started off and out the door to begin you weekend. If these aren't your style, don't hesitate to do some digging yourself and find the hidden jewels on our local music scene

Thursday, Feb. 16

The biggest show of the night is also the biggest country show of the month as George Strait and Martina McBride share the stage at BOK Center. Perhaps more exciting locally, however, is the annual Waka Winter Classic at Cain's Ballroom, where you can help pick which Tulsa band will win a spot at this summer's Wakarusa festival. This year's contenders include Panda Resistance, Sam & the Stylees, Able the Allies, Loaded Dice and Dirty Creek Bandits. Afterwards, you can chill out at Hunt Club with Ego Culture.

Friday, Feb. 17

Don't forget We The Ghost holding its official CD release party at Body Electric, with doors opening at 8pm. You can also catch Cairde na Gael at Arnie's for "the Great Guinness Toast", Bright Giant at Mercury Lounge and Boom Bang with Broncho at Soundpony.

The night's two biggest shows, however, are the return of rising country star Jake Owens at Cain's Ballroom and The Rock & Worship Roadshow at Mabee Center featuring Mercy Me, 10th Avenue North, Lecrae, Hawk Nelson, Disciple, Sidewalk Prophets and Rend Collective Experiment. Tickets are only $10 at the door, with doors at 6pm and the show starting at 7:30pm.

Saturday, Feb. 18

Take a chance and mix things up this weekend as Jambalaya Jazz Band plays a special show at Blue Rose Café or catch The Gourds as they bring a little honky-tonk and swamp-swing to the Jazz Hall of Fame. If you're ready to rock, check out The Del Toros and RL Jones at Treehouse, where DJ Darku J will take over at midnight for the late night dance crowd. The big party on Saturday, is Dead Metal Society at CJ Moloney's in Broken Arrow. If you're ready for a mixed bill that really rocks, however, the coolest show of the weekend just may be Samantha Crain with Low Litas and Broncho at Fassler Hall.

Sunday, Feb. 19

The weekend winds down with Brandon Clark (acoustic) at Mercury Lounge, Bramhall Blues Review at Treehouse and Paul Benjaman's "Sunday Night Thing" at The Colony.

Wednesday, Feb. 22

The rest of the week is relatively quiet, but if you're looking for something special, you don't want to miss a special acoustic show by alt-rockers Hurt with The Wandering Madmen opening at Cain's Ballroom. This could be the stealth show of the month. .
