With summer's heat here and the concert calendar in full swing, your best way to spend the weekend is to get out and enjoy the music. As always, there's too much going on to include it all here (that's what our events calendar is for), but we've got this week's highlights to get you headed in the right direction.

Thursday, June 7

If you're looking for a big rock show, you just have to choose your flavor. If you want modern rock, the BOK center is the place to be as Nickelback returns with Bush, Seether and My Darkest Days in tow. If you're looking for huge hooks and a classic feel, head over to The Joint for Cheap Trick.

Friday, June 8

The big show theme continues as Barry Manilow plays BOK Center and continues to be larger than life. Over at Cain's Ballroom, Reckless Kelly returns with Brandon Clark Band opening and celebrating the digital release of BCB's new live disc, which was recorded at Cain's in January.

Elsewhere around town, GoGo Plumbay brings its jazz-fusion vibe to The Colony while The Shame throws down a raucous night at Mercury Lounge and The Del Toros rock at Hunt Club. And if you're in a dancing mood, don't miss the PBR outbreak at Soundpony with DJ Falkirk, DJ Nutter, Sastronaut, ChaseGod, DJ Sweet Baby Jayzus and more.

Saturday, June 9

If you're looking for some good laughs while being challenged to think at the same time, start your night at The Joint with Dennis Miller for what should be an incredible evening of snarky humor. You can still hit the clubs after to catch Dash Rip Rock at Mercury Lounge, Freakjuice at Hunt Club, For the Wolf with Movements at Crystal Pistol, or even a night of retro-metal with Dead Metal Society at Fishbonz.

Monday, June 11

Make sure to catch Walk the Moon with Morning Parade at Bob's as The Edge helps kick off your summer with another "Low Dough Show" and a pair of bands that capture the essence of summer almost perfectly.

Wednesday, June 13

The week wraps up with the "Music for the Mother Road" concert honoring Mary Beth Babcock as Oklahoma Today's "Oklahoman of the Year." Local boy gone big, JD McPherson, headlines the show with support from Broncho.
