Love Letters, hate mail
Back to School
Dear UTW:
Tulsa Public Schools is the absolute worst school system I've ever seen. The teachers and principals are just incompetent and lazy. One math teacher told me if I wanted help for my son I would have to go online to get it. I know of one child (and I have the report card to prove it) was passed on and he had straight "F's" the entire year. I've seen better school systems in third world countries. It's a disgusting situation that gets worse with each passing year. My son was put in private school to avoid the drugs, gangs and teacher molestations after the 5th grade. I have no sympathy for TPS Teachers.

Talk About Bonfires
(Re: "Tweet Tweet, Cluck Cluck," August 9-15, Vol. 22., No. 6)
Dear UTW:
Hate equals virtue; Kern equals Taliban; Free-speech equals bigotry; all Chick-fil-A supporters equal religious fundamentalists. This is good stuff.
Well said, Arnold. Thank you for such an objective analysis of the situation.
I'm with you. Clearly, the conservatives are peddling their hate again, badgering non-moralists, and seeking to manipulate power to push their agenda. Clearly, Chicago's mayor could give Kern some advice on how to stop the hate, right? Obviously, Mayor Emmanuel's use of public office and political relationships to thwart further private development of the fundamentalists franchise is a more righteous use of political office than Kern.

In fact, I know of some conservatives that are seeking to do business in Tulsa, let's rally some left-leaning officials and declare imminent domain on their property.
Kern is a money-laundering bigot; Emmanuel, a knight upholding the creed of tolerance. Well-played.
On the contrary, I feel a little convicted by this, so I'm going to share some facts, but I'm with you in ignoring them as we continue to editorialize: Cathy responded to a question, and has never taken any action within his company to fire or disallow the LGTB community. Most supporters of Chick-fil-A have acted more in defense of Cathy's right to express his personal views and not be blocked by city officials, than in defense of same-sex marriage. Arthur Blank has funded more pro-same sex marriage rallies than Cathy has dreamed of funding for the "hetero-movement," but I'm forgetting the double-standard, my apologies.
To the appreciator of irony, ask yourself this: Who's more evangelistic in their stance: those who share their personal convictions, or those who publicly assault one's company or office for expressing their personal opinions? What's more hate-mongering: a comparison of Kern to the Taliban, or Cathy saying that hastily redefining an institution that has existed for thousands of years isn't a good idea?
What religion is really being pushed here: Christianity, or a conservative-badgering, conviction-despising agenda that can assault a conservative for sharing their personal views, while at the same time espousing a view of a pluralistic and tolerant society? Obviously, when you're this duplicitous, it makes sense why you would "hate" someone who has any real backbone.
Apparently there's a bigot bonfire where all the conservatives are planning to lynch the "lefties." Arnold -- can you send me that address?

A Challenge
(Re: "Jump, Punch & Score," July 19-25, Vol. 22., No. 3)
Dear UTW:
This is kind of a croc. I have followed the career of Randy Blake. Aside from his last fight for the title (against a 39 year old former champ on his way out of the sport) Randy Blake has not fought ONE Kickboxer in his career! they have all been wrestlers or MMA fighters with wrestling backgrounds getting paid to "make randy look good" I would challenge Dale "Apollo" Cook or anyone for that matter to post all of his opponents Professional kickboxing records.
