Meet Our Intern

Mariah Harnish, a recent student of nursing, has received an internship in UTW's editorial department. "I have always loved to write," Harnish said, and she would like to put this desire into practice as she takes another direction in life.

When she isn't studying and interning at UTW, Harnish like to spend time with friends and other people, and she describes herself as a "people person." She also paints, often often using whatever is at hand besides paint, including hair color and stage blood. When asked about her style of painting, Harnish said, "I build upon mistakes. I don't paint for other people, and don't sign them," she said, although she did sell a piece once for a benefit.

"I could write essays all day long and talk to strangers and be content," Harnish said, which is part of the reason she feels drawn to journalism. Whatever career she ends up pursuing, Hanish said she hopes it can engage her love of learning.

"I would love to be able to learn constantly about the world and communicate that learning to others," she said. "I want to learn and let people know about things they've never conceived of," handing on her own experiences of reading and living.
