Although it may still be unseasonably warm, don't let the temperatures fool you: Christmas season is here and this week's concert calendar will start reminding you of it. Regardless of how busy you are with holiday parties and shopping, the local concert calendar is just as busy -- and may even be responsible for keeping the temperatures up. There's too much going on to list it all here (that's what the events calendar is for), but if you're looking to get out and kick back with some music this week, we've got all the highlights for you. Here we go...

Thursday, December 6

Probably the biggest, most bombastic Christmas show of the season arrives at BOK Center this Thursday night as Trans Siberian Orchestra brings all new production of The Lost Christmas Eve to town to remind you that yes, the season of giving really is at hand. Looking across the tracks, Old Crow Medicine Show headlines Cain's Ballroom with Chuck Mead & the Grassy Knoll Boys opening the show. And if you're looking for some New Orleans funk and soul, make sure to stop in at The Vanguard to catch The Revivalists. Nicnos and Vette will open the show to shake things up over the course of the evening.

Friday, December 7

The show that has flown under everyone's radar is the return of Project 86, who will be headlining a show on the ORU campus at Howard Theater with The Overseer, Even the Dogs, and Carnegie opening. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door, with VIP tickets (including a meet & greet and private acoustic set) available for only $15. Meanwhile, Brian Regan will be bringing his comedy tour to Mabee Center for an evening of laughs on the same night, as well.

Looking downtown, the big country show of the week is Eric Church at BOK Center with Justin Moore and Kip Moore opening the night. Jay Faulkner Trio plays Red Dirt Dancehall on Friday as well and if you're looking for down and dirty Americana, don't miss Barefoot Gypsies with Dirty River Boys at Mercury Lounge. And for the punk and garage rock fans out there, The Last Slice, Streetlight Fight, The Decomposed, and Dirty Mugs come together for the first of two nights celebrating Brothers Houligan's 25th anniversary at The Vanguard.

Saturday, December 8

The Brothers Houligan party carries on at The Vanguard with Shotgun Rebels, Prayers & Curses, Seven Day Crash, For the Wolf, Able the Allies, and Kicktree with a low dough, $5 cover. Elsewhere around town, Whirligig plays The Colony, Mercury Lounge hosts Kentucky Knife Fight and PDA shoots a video while playing a live show at The Shrine with Alan Doyle, Jook Mode and O.T.S.B. opening the night. The coolest show for singer/songwriter fans, however, will be Steve Forbert at All Souls Acoustic Coffeehouse, beginning at 7:30pm.

Sunday, December 9

The weekend winds down with a show at the Jazz Hall of Fame with local siren, Olivia Duhon, at 5pm. Later in the evening you can relax with Brandon Clark at Mercury Lounge or Paul Benjaman & Friends at The Colony.

Monday, December 10

Bryan Adams brings his "Bare Bones" acoustic tour to Brady Theater at 8pm, but not before making an appearance for an "Exposed" book signing at the Philbrook Museum of Art at 3pm.

Tuesday, December 11

Wrap your week up with a dose of local music as For the Wolf, This Season's Color, and Motives team up for a night of tunes at Hunt Club.

After all that, you'd better use Wednesday night to rest up, because it only gets busier next week. Choose wisely and enjoy.
