Re: The Last Picture Show  7/30/2009 - 3:25pm
I'm going to miss you, my brother - in more ways than one.
It's always good to have a compatriot with a good bullshit meter, and if for that alone your departure will be great loss. Now enjoy your time with that little girl and keep in touch.

Return of a 60s Legend? Hardly... Nice add, Keith - Earth Wind and Fire may have initially formed in '69, but teir debut wasn't released until late '70/early '71.

Re: Prophets and Profits  11/29/2006 - 7:21am
"What would be said when OKC's arena gets a huge upgrade?" Maybe that you shouldn't need a huge upgrade after so short a time, for starters. I don't neccesarily buy into "our arena will always be better than OKC's", but I'm tired of all Tulsa vs OKC B.S. that goes both ways. The bottom line is, The Ford Center is bland and personality-less and feels like walking the hallways of a massive high-school. Ii can think of a half dozen similar arenas that hove doen it better, right off the top of my head, startign with Indy's Conseco Fieldhouse, Memephis' FedEx Center, Dallas AA Arena, Charlotte, Denver - shall I keep going? Tulsa's will have more personality, but will it draw people simply because it's and "art exhibit"? No. It will still be empty most of the time if the area isn;t developed with hotels and there isn;t a group actively working to book, then PROMOTE events. The latter of which, is what Tulsa's "promoters" do worst.
And the scrolling wessages during games? Yeah, it'll be interesting at first, something of a curiosity. But I'm betting it will rapidly grow annoying when you're trying to catch the score, or quickly be ignored. Closed minded? Mayybe, but how many people are going to regularly attend basketball, AF, of hockey games for the "art"?
