is the kaiser / bing thom plan for the river that is supposed to compliment the INCOG river master plan out yet? ...i seem to remember it was going to be out in december. also i heard that there was an op-ed peice coming out by the mayor's office that suggested putting priority on (1) filling the river with water (which Tulsans have now voted twice for), (2) developing the banks, and then if you have the money and resources, etc., after that, go ahead and build an island if you like. anything come of that? agreed that tulsa needs to figure out what it's going to do with the river. pick a plan, or even a few plans, and see them through to completion. what is the right venue for the discussion to happen?

good questions. ultimately it boils down to the need for developers to be directed by a comprehensive plan for downtown, and a set of rules/regulations that everyone has to follow in order to see downtown reach its full potential. right now, developers just get to do and say whatever they want, and make rediculous demands for what they want based on their profit-seeking market research of the time. nothing wrong w/ making a profit...but ultimately the city needs to look after what's good for THE CITY, its citizens, etc. in the end, the long view (maybe we call this, "intelligent design"?!) is going to benefit everyone, INCLUDING the corporate interests of developers!
