Thanks for your kind words Tay. But I think no one remembers much of my efforts even though I advertised in this publication. Perhaps if I could borrow that inflatable thing you use and attach it to back of a boat on the river.... Love your idea for a Friends of the River that would immerse themselves into extracting junk from our lovely attractive nuisance. We could use the stuff to create natural art along the banks too!

What does a man have to do to be included in a history of the river? I enjoyed your history. It paralleled the research I did before starting my boat business on the river in 2002. I spent 3 years of my life, over $100,000 investment and bankrupted myself in the effort. I carried over a 1000 riders upstream to the Keystone Dam and hundreds of locals on my ferry. I helped to renew an interest in developing the river through many interviews, and even merited a segment on Discover Oklahoma. Yet, no mention of my effort in your history? Who did I anger over there?

Not that anyone but Michael Johnson would notice, but I thought you meant Michael Hairston, also a VP at Williams. My apologies for getting old and feeble. And should my boat ever operate again on the river Mr. Johnson gets a free ride.

I like #68 as a moving force in Tulsa for the next generation (if we can keep the water moving in it!). But my nominee for #1 on the list would be Michael Johnson, V.P. Williams. You cannot shake the optimism, the good nature and the vision this man possesses about Tulsa. He and his children were on the first boatload of riders my airboat ferried up the Arkansas River and has remained supportive of my efforts to educate Tulsans about our diamond in the rough. Some day people will realize what a great political leader he could be for our city.
