Activities:
I am consistently preoccupied writing, recording, or producing music, exercising, reading, cooking, and not much television, when I'm at home. Other than that I like to get out and see a good band, attend a charity, go to a bookstore, ride my bike and or hang out with my true genius of a son. I fit time with friends in between there on band nights.
UPDATE: Recently I have joined the Riverview Neighborhood Association board and made some really great acquaintances in doing so. I love being engaged with people who are motivated to change and improve where we live for everyone who can benefit from it, whether the metamorphosis is aesthetic in nature or setting an agenda. This new endeavor is sure to provoke some late late nights throughout the year (2009).
Interests:
Music, Science, Architecture, Engineering, Mythology, the human perspective.
Favorite Music:
Without a doubt, Jeff Buckley, may he rest in peace. But I like every kind of music as long as it's not too cliche' or ordinary. Most recent superb records are: JFJO - Lil' Tae Rides Again; Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago; Tv On The Radio - Dear Science; Pontiac - Kale; and the mix tape of Misfits songs Matty gave me. "I want your skull!"
Favorite TV Shows:
Not a dedicated TV watcher. But I do watch college football, CNN or C-SPAN, OETA, channel 24 for local business stuff, channel 19 for music arts showcase, History Channel sometimes, etc.
Favorite Movies:
Red box. Blockbuster. I usually only go to the movies for the type of movie that should be seen at the movies. All of the Lord of the Rings, for example.
Favorite Books:
Jared Diamond is a great author. As well as Joseph Campbell, Willa Cather, Homer, Mark Twain, Dr. James Dobson, Adam Davies, Charles Darwin, and Stephen Hawking.
Favorite Quotations:
"Art...should simplify. That, indeed, is very nearly the whole of the higher artistic process; finding what conventions of form and what detail one can do without and yet preserve the spirit of the whole."
Willa Cather, "On the Art of Fiction", 1920.

I'll definitely be at the festival, since it's free. Not sure about Mars Volta. I could pawn my guitar and go? Naa..

I like your observation, "an aesthetically pleasing backdrop for the aural banquet," describing the costumes and scenery. -August Freistedt

Good call Bo. I talked to your home boy Combs the other night about Stone Trio stuff. Good to hear things are still in the works. No hard feelings, FVoR. CHEERS!

I'm sorry that you got named Frustrated Voice of Reason. That must suck to have to go through life living up to that handle. And is that really a photo of you? I'll say hello if I see you around. Thanks for the comments. I hope you don't mind that I'm not going to pick every line you wrote and respond to it off base. Nonetheless, it was enjoyable reading your answers to your own questions. And, finally, not penultimately, I like using that word, be it in adjective or adverb form, solely based on the fact that it was in a Soundgarden song. Cheers FVoR!

If Bates has to go, no harm done (not much anyway). It's not like he doesn't maintain a blog or two. Win some, lose some. I will still enjoy UTW, every week! Good luck Bates!
