Dear Urban Tulsa Stop writing about the Ms. Center of the Universe Pageant if you're not going to bother to actually learn what it is about. The ticket sales are just fine without your inane and inaccurate blurbs, and the contestants aren't particularly interested in being misrepresented and slut-shamed. Sincerely, Julie Ann Seals Pageant Creator

As a creator of this show, I would just like to state that the "publicly simulating sex acts" is a joke in the application, not the theme of the show. One of the things I have reiterated as I've addressed this production is that there is a line between satirizing the objectification of women and actually objectifying women--I have striven concertedly to maintain respect and honor for women in this pageant. Though the article itself is decent (it is a difficult event to explain and convey), the headline "Make Mommy Proud" is just bizarre, and the subheading directly misrepresents the pageant. Unfortunately, those who read the print edition will not see my comment or get the chance to realize that this representation of the pageant is inaccurate. That is disappointing, and I would rather have kept this as a grassroots event spread by word of mouth than to have it distorted in the press. I will not agree to coverage from the Urban Tulsa Weekly in the future. Sincerely, Julie Ann Seals
