Where on earth did the author get the information about Weatherford being named for a frontier Marshal ? It is my understanding that Weatherford was named for an early Postmistress, Lorinda "Rinda" Tennessee Powell Weatherford b. 1852 AR d 1925 and buried in Greenwood Cem. Her husband was William John or William James Weatherford, b. 1847 Holly Springs, Marshall Co., MS. Maybe that's where she got the "Marshall".
