I am in Osage county surrounded by small town communities. They are different from each other in many ways. However, their struggle is the same in the tough economy. The Avant community is facing annexation right now. The administration wanted the community to voluntarily annex to either Barnsdall or Skiatook schools. However, the community is not willing to let their school close at this time and are still fighting against it. It's a sad situation for all those involved. I don't know if consolidation is the answer but it's at least an option for schools that are running out of choices.
