Re: Occupy Sexual Freedom  2/15/2012 - 1:10am
Agreed. To an extent. I don't believe that people should hide who they are in this day in age where being different is normal. Prostitution is illegal and what he was conducting in was prostitution. That's the end of that. However, why should Larry Craig have to resort to the dirty deed in a bathroom because he has needs and desires that, at some point or another, most of us have? Why did he have to pretend like it was a detriment to his political career, when so many people would've supported him in his aspirations? Why is it that we must hate homosexuals for what happens in the bedroom when many heterosexual counterparts are all for getting down in dirty into kinky love-making? Oh, that's right, a book that has been written by the hand of men, than translated from a DEAD LANGUAGE to English by the very same people we broke from BECAUSE THEY WERE LIARS AND THIEVES. It's time people stop hating what they are told to hate and accept that gay people aren't going anywhere. They're going to be here no matter what we do, say, or beat at them. Get over your bible-thumping selves and use some of that Christian Charity that God teaches all of us and get some common sense. Maybe if we read the whole book and focused on the good of GOD'S CREATIONS, than we would stop having senseless killings and children killing themselves for not being accepted. God is my father, and I might not do everything that my father likes, but he loves me. No father who truly loves their children is going to hate them for what is done behind closed doors. Now that I offended most Christians, back to the point. It doesn't matter if you're a Right Wing, left handed two acorns in a tree house political party member, it's time to stop dividing ourselves and come to some damn common ground. The War on Iraq was senseless and violent. Doesn't mean for one second if I saw someone protesting a soldiers funeral, I wouldn't have punched them in the face. It may be your right to petition, but that person died for your right to petition, rather you agree with the cause or not. The deficit our government continues to pile upon our heads is our faults as well. We let them take control of something that WE were supposed to monitor. We stopped educating our children and ourselves on our political world. Rise up people, if we're not careful our government will take our lives over and keep us well-fed, broke, and so miserable that we can't see straight. Stop grand-standing behind the elephant and donkey and start being the country we were once all proud to call our home. Believe that we can make the difference, don't doubt that we have power. Don't forget who won the Revolution, it wasn't our military who we let do our dirty bidding, it was the farmers, blacksmiths, and field-workers that this country was founded on that gave us our freedom. Remember it.

Re: Are You Pissed Off? Tell us about it.  11/ 3/2011 - 11:00pm
   Dear Don B.
Not once have I attacked you personally, as you have just done to me. So now I will get nasty. OCD is not something I have. Being a parent is something that I take with pride. And yes, all of those things are the most common because we have to do those things and we have to take our children places. As these are unpreventable circumstances, of course they occur more often than not. Which is why I control what dangers my child is introduced to. When you have a child or hell even a dog to depend upon you and they're counting on you to keep them safe, please come tell me how "OCD" I am. In the meantime I will gladly take my well-won last word and take solace in this fact; I love my son enough to protect him from the things I can and do my best to keep him safe from the things I can not. Any parent who loves their children will agree. And so to end this battle to show you for the hypocrite that you are I refer to your original poetic statement you made at the beginning of this ordeal:

   It's easier to tell,
   others what to do,
   if their experiences aren't real,
   unless they happen to you.

Re: Are You Pissed Off? Tell us about it.  11/ 2/2011 - 1:28am
Sir, please do not think me mean when I say, I bet money that even though there are child proof locks on the medication bottles that you have, you also lock them up as well? Would that not make you overly-protective? And it wouldn't be very effective in the case of an allergic reaction or heart attack would it? Tell me this, should I not be so cautious with my lethal firearms? And when I do so take your advice and just put them in a child proof case, which we both know is about as child proof as the medication caps, and my son gets into it and hurts himself can I come calling at your door to find out what would be the next best solution? Or, should I continue to do what I am doing and teach him (when he is old enough) how to properly handle these things that way I can have it be more useful without the fear of walking in my house to see my sons dead body on the floor. I can't possibly have been that stupid to keep the ammunition and the guns in two separate locations that are both easily accessible with the key right next to my bed to unlock the safety I have. I feel absolutely mortified that I could take such a risk with my family's well being! Thank you Don for pointing out to me the error of my ways! Not once did it cross my mind in the training that I have received for gun safety that all I had to do was look to the citizens of Tulsa to not only help me make my guns so more readily available but also to teach me how to raise my son! People like you are the reason why there is such tight gun control. Because people believe that there children can't get into something than when they do, they cry for stricter gun control. Put my firearms in a child proof case? What does that even mean? What child proof anything is there? How many times have you hidden something from your own children, just to have it found? Do me a favor and think on this mental piece of cake. You lock something up, tell your kid that they can't have it, what is the first thing they do when you're not there? That's right, it's the proverbial golden ticket to them. And what happens when they get in that case and both the ammunition and weapon are there? That's right, they're going to want to play with it. Than what's next? They hurt themselves, someone else, and if you're really lucky, they might not do anything. But the point is that they will try to get into whatever it is that you keep locked away. So let's go a head and make it easier for them to get it. Fantastic. Let's go a head and pass out dime bags to fifth graders and have them lock it in a drawer and say that they can't have it. They're going to be able to get it, know how to get, why not just make it easier for them. According to your logic, you did your part by saying no don't do that so they're not going to do it. Please Don come teach my kid to behave and to not do stupid things. You would be making my life so much easier. You're a gem.

The reason why my son hasn't been trained to properly handle a firearm would be because my son is only 19 months old and that would also be why my guns are locked up the way they are. Because until my son is old enough to use and properly handle firearms, I don't want him to be a statistic. If people would take more caution with their firearms, we wouldn't be having this lovely conversation of second amendment rights now would we? As to Mental Illness, the Websters Dictionary definition is any of the various forms of psychosis or severe neurosis. That means, that if you're grieving over the loss of a loved one, a gun may not be the best thing to be had. In that same respect, if you have a history of depression let's go a head and give you a gun because if you decide to go off your medication, and have a bad reaction, you can have something to harm yourself or others with. And the last thing that I would like to address is how I am telling other people to live their lives with their rights. You're wrong on that respect. I am not telling people how to live their lives, merely offering suggestions on how to handle firearms CORRECTLY and SAFELY. And Police officers who have fired a firearm in the line of duty have to turn in their weapons. As well as gun owners who use the firearm for self defense. As both may or may not be used in a judiciary hearing. Please do not think to tell me or anyone else what it is that I am "trying to say" especially when you are incorrect. I am very well capable of speaking for myself. Had you asked a question in a non-belittling frame, I would have been more than happy to explain myself, and my views and reasons, in the same manner. However, I do wish to point out that I am happy that you felt the need to comment on this issue because it does need to be hammered out. I don't believe that someone should take the right to bear arms away from us, I do believe however that we shouldn't give a dangerous weapon to just anyone. I appreciate the opportunity to debate.

Re: Ah, To Be Young and In Hate  10/14/2011 - 7:39pm
I disagree with most of your statement. Before you begin giving cautionary tales to high school students about what degree or if any college should be obtained think of this; what job can you get that pays enough to support a family comfortably without a degree in higher education? Taking money to do these things, I believe, is a good reason to go into "debt" with the hopes that whatever I chose to obtain my degree in would help me siphon those costs. It is cynical to say that "if you didn't know you were stupid." It's not like the Economy was killing 6 million people and burning their bodies now was it? And stating that the Economy needed a correction is like saying, oh its not broke, but we'll try and fix it anyway. And we're all very proud of you for working your way through college, really, that is an accomplishment. But belittling students for taking advantage of the opportunities that, because of this "foreseeable collapse" in our Economy wouldn't have, is both arrogant, mean-spirited, and bitter. I believe that you need to take a step back and understand that this isn't the world you lived in whatever time frame that may be. We are forced to accept things and compromise other things that would be given without a moments hesitation to you. If you happen to not understand them, I can forgive. The fact that you are demeaning children furthering their education, is abominable.
