We are so glad our friend Pantoja has been able to fly free of the cage that is our beloved Cuba. The United States policies have also kept the bars in place, with a locked gate for her citizens to not pass through, when our embargo is lifted there will be much change in how the Cuban government treats the people. My huband, who left Cuba 2 years ago, wakes up every day grateful and so aware of his freedom and opportunity to achieve success. He also gives thanks that he had an education, a cultural identity, and the influence of both family and intelligent creative people from Cuba AND abroad to inspire him. The importance of the arts is enormous in Cuba, it is a vital link to life beyond la miseria, necessary to tell the heart stories that wrestle strength from suffering. Pantoja is an amazing man and his work is one of a choir of voices that need to be heard in America. Someday there will be no closed door, Cubanos and Americanos will know each other "sin limites," with no limits. Imagine.
