While I am a proud Socialist (whipping out My OnlyNixonCanGoToChina card, so to speak) and sooo would have preferred the ACA contained a single-Payer provision or at least a public option (think, "buy into Medicare"), I am also pro-Life and, just as importantly, pro-conscience-rights. I was actually hoping Romney would win last night and make this mandate go away. (It's got not only 1st amendment violations and Religious Freedom Restoration Act violations but also 8th amendment violations as well because the fines of upto $100 per Employer *per*day* are undoubtedly excessive.) Alas, it was not meant to be. Now, at My company We are going to have to either drop Our Self-insured plan or see if We can join up with one the health share ministries until this blows over.
