Government officials should never be leading any such prayer as that is not the intent that Jefferson himself said was meant by the 1st amendent (read elsewhere on This website about that).
In public arena type prayers I am often vocally not going to 'adhear' to public prayers because though not christian I agree with Jesus that public prayers are wrong (its in there, read it)."
