RecycleMichael, 10/23/2008 - 10:33am ""The old mini-golf area on the south edge of the park was closed because it was generating more cost than revenue..."
What?
How much does it cost to sweep the leaves off the carpet? Miniature Golf has got to be the least expensive part of the part of the course to operate.
Bell's just let it fall apart. It was the edge of the course that fronted the main road and it just sat there decaying for years. It was completely indicative of the problems with the park.
Bell's was run down. They stopped putting money into the park. Our tax dollars were investing millions into new facilities at the fairgrounds and Bell's was becoming an embarassment and unsafe. How many times were the deputies called out to break up large gang fights the last couple of years?
I didn't agree with the manner that the Fair Board dealt with Bell's, but your statement that, "The blame for Bell's demise rests completely at the feet of the Fair Board..." is just untrue."
