"I do not believe that all recreational should be legalized, but I also do not believe our government should be making laws in accordance with the bible. Heaven and hell are after all just opinions of various religions and not scientific facts. I too did more than my share of drugs in my younger years, and do I regret it Yes! But I do believe in the use of medicinal marijuana. After all pharmaceutical drug abuse is an ever growing problem as recreational drugs are. If someone wants to use drugs of whatever kind, they will find a way. The government has been trying to stop illegal drug usage for as long as I can remember. even creating the DEA has not stopped the flow of drugs into this country and they never will as long as there are people that want them. There are three drugs that are legal; caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Look at the health care costs they have taken on tax payers. Drinking and driving is the same as putting a gun in a serial killers hands, because someone is going to be injured or killed. So what would be the difference between someone smoking weed or someone drinking and driving? I do not know of anyone personally that has been pulled over for smoking weed. I know of people that got pulled over for a traffic violation and got caught with it but that is not why they were pulled over. On the other hand I know lots of people that have lost their licenses due to drunk driving and even know a couple that killed people driving drunk. and everyone one of them still do it. All of the jail and /or prison time, or the money it has cost them did not deter them from still doing it. So what the answer is I do not know. Legal drugs or illegal drugs both harm society and raise health care costs substantially, not to mention the cost of housing, clothing, and feeding all the people incarcerated. There is no clear cut answer to this debate. Just opinions."
